Description
The Kansas-Missouri Branch of the International Dyslexia Association is proud to present our third annual Dyslexia Dash on Sunday, October 21st. KS-MO IDA's mission is to give students with dyslexia a better learning experience through teacher training, parent support and student empowerment. 1 in 5 children struggle to read. Research shows these children need a specific type of instruction (Orton-Gillingham). Current teachers leave college without the training needed to help these students. To combat this problem KSMO IDA created the Orton-Gillingham Scholarship program to provide the much-needed training for teachers and Learning Ally (audiobooks)Scholarship program for students in Missouri and Kansas. We have provided scholarships to 10 teachers and 10 students in the last two years. Our Dash has been so successful and enjoyable that people come back every year to join us. Last year we had more than 500 participants between St. Louis and Kansas City. We have a strong, supportive community and we welcome all to attend our Dyslexia Dash 5K. This year's theme is "Moving Mountains" because people with dyslexia move many mountains to do amazing things. KS-MO IDA is working to move mountains by providing teacher training scholarships and Learning Ally accounts for students. The funds raised at the Dyslexia Dash fund the teacher scholarships and Learning Ally scholarship accounts. Will you help move mountains for students with dyslexia?
