Come join Decoding Dyslexia Missouri, in Saint Louis, as we celebrate dyslexia awareness with our annual Step Up for Dyslexia Walk sponsored by Speech Language Learning Systems. The walk will begin with a picnic and take place in beautiful Queeny Park on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018. After the awareness walk, we will have a special guest visit from Louie of the St. Louis Blues! Various sponsor tables will be set up with information about dyslexia, as well as activities for the kids such as bounce houses, music, face painting, hayrides and *New this year-The Bubble Bus!!! Pack a picnic or get your lunch from a food truck! Please view last year's video at the bottom of our page.
Decoding Dyslexia Missouri is a grassroots parent-led movement with a three-pronged mission to educate, advocate and legislate on behalf of those with dyslexia. We are focused on linking families to resources, support, and educational interventions for dyslexia. Our goal is to raise dyslexia awareness, empower families to support their children and inform policy-makers on best practices to identify, remediate and support students with dyslexia in Missouri.
With your support, this event will rally families, friends and supporters of DDMO as we work together to achieve our mission and create change for children and adults with dyslexia in our community. All proceeds will directly support DDMO’s mission.
*Senator Scott Sifton, sponsor of the Dyslexia Bill that passed in 2016 will be present to give opening remarks.
*Activities include bounce houses, the bubble bus, face painting, a photo booth, music, hayrides, fishing, sand volleyball, food trucks, and Louie from the St. Louis Blues will greet walkers at the finish line.
*Parking Note: There will be hayride shuttles from Queeny Park Corporate Parking Lot to the Corporate Pavilion where the picnic and walk will take place. Hayride shuttles will run from 11:30-1:30; and again from 2:45-3:45. If you would like to walk to the pavilion there will be signs directing you to the walking path.

When do I receive my walk t-shirt? If you register before the deadline (August 31, 2018), you will receive your shirt on the day of the walk at the registration/check-in table.
I signed up, but now I won't be able to walk/run. Can I get a refund? We are unable to provide refunds for registration fees. However, if you signed up before the deadline, you may have someone else pick up your t-shirt on walk day. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of the person who will be picking up your shirt.
Who can participate in the events? All Step Up for Dyslexia Events are open to all ages; however, register your children ages (1-17) through the Youth Registration Tab for all walk events. All adults ages 18+ need to register through the 2 Mile Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk Tabs. The Picnic is a free event open to all ages. Bring your own picnic basket or buy from New York Tom's food truck which has reasonably priced, family friendly food.
I see that children 10 and under are free. Do I need to register them? Children aged 10 and under can participate in both the 2 Mile Run/Walk and the 1 Mile Fun Walk for free without being registered for either event, but they are not eligible for a walk t-shirt. If the walk is cancelled Decoding Dyslexia Missouri will make a post on their website (www.decodingdyslexia-mo.org). We will be unable to provide refunds due to cancellation as this is a fundraising event. All proceeds go to parent/teacher education, and helps DDMO members continue their work in the legislature.
