Steam Whistle 12K Run and 6k Walk

Start the NEW YEAR off on the right foot and join the Pine Belt Pacers for a cool 12K (7.46 miles) Run or 6K (3.73 miles) Walk! What a great way to Run (or Walk) into the New Year!

NEW TO THE RACE THIS YEAR: (1) Matching Sweatpants that can be purchased separately. All the details are below. AND (2) A New Discounted Race Registration Option.  If race sweatshirts are not your thing, then we have a discounted race registration option for you! This discounted rate will only be available until December 18, 2024.

Course: Both courses are flat and fast, out and back on the Longleaf Trace. Both races start just East of Jackson Pavilion. The 12K Run will turn around just west of Clyde Depot, while the 6K Walk will turn around just west of Lake Thoreau Road! 

Aid-Stations: There will be 2 aid stations on the course. The first will be at the 6K Walk turnaround, and the second will be at the 12K Run turnaround. 

2025 Steam Whistle Race Zip Hoodie Sweatshirts: Register by December 18, 2024, to be guaranteed a Race Sweatshirt! Additional race sweatshirts may be purchased during race registration for $30.00 ($2.00 extra for 2XL or 3XL).  If you sign up after December 18, we cannot guarantee you will receive a race sweatshirt. 

2025 Steam Whistle Race Pants: This year, we are offering matching sweatpants as an add-on to your race registration for only $30.00 ($2.00 extra for 2XL and 3XL). Make sure and add a pair to your cart during race registration! 

12K Run Awards: 1st Male and Female, Overall, Master, and Grandmaster.  Age Group awards: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Male and Female ages 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+. 

6K Walk Awards: Overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female. 

Early Packet Pickup: Tuesday, December 31, Time: TBD at the Breland Community Center located adjacent to the Jackson Station on the Longleaf Trace.

Bibs, race sweatshirts, swag bags and purchased add-ons will be given out at Packet Pickup.  To avoid crowds on race morning, we encourage you to pick up your packet during this time.   If you cannot make it to packet pickup, you are welcome to have someone pick up your packet for you.

Race Day Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will begin at 6:30 a.m. on Race Day morning, at the Breland Community Center located adjacent to the Jackson Station on the Longleaf Trace.

Online registration closes at 11:59 pm (CDT) on Monday, December 30. 

Last Minute In-Person Registration: Last minute in-person registration will take place at Packet Pickup. Last minute registration is $50.00.

Post Race After Party: Head on over to the Breland Community Center for the Post Race After Party. Post race food this year will be traditional New Year's Day black eyed peas, greens, and cornbread.  There will also be door prizes!
