Rules
Boat Classes
The boat classes have been designed with fairness in mind. We have worked to achieve a balance between the large variety of boats on the market and the logistics of race management. The racer is responsible for accurately describing the make, model, width and length of his/her boat when registering. This is the information the race director uses to ensure racers are in the right class. Should any dispute arise about boat classification, it will be handled by the race director. Intentionally using false information about your craft will result in disqualification. Only watercraft propelled by human(s) are allowed to participate in this event.
Relay Participants
The Relay is intended for two participants to split the race. One member of the team will start the race and paddle to the I-10 Boat Ramp where they will meet the second team member. NO Shuttle service is provided to the I-10 Boat Ramp. Racers can each paddle their own craft and pass the baton on the river or trade out places in the kayak/SUP and the baton at the boat ramp. The second team member will finish the race and with the appropriate baton to qualify as finished.
Children & Families
We welcome families and children to join in the fun. Juveniles under the age of 12 must be accompanied in a tandem boat with an adult. Juveniles ages 12-17 may paddle solo. In either instance, a parent or guardian must sign a waiver for the juvenile to participate.
Weather
The race will proceed in rain or shine. Be prepared for inclement weather. However, if thunderstorms occur, the event will be either delayed (same day race) or canceled entirely. If the race is canceled, racers will still receive all complimentary race bags/gifts intended for them. Registration fees will not be refunded.
Safety
Various safety/spotting boats will be out on the racecourse in case of any emergencies during the race. An emergency contact number will be provided at check-in for use during the race. The course has been designed for both enjoyment and to be as safe as possible, but we recognize that unplanned accidents and emergencies can occur. Please be prepared for unforeseen circumstances by having the right equipment and materials (hat, sunscreen, water, ID, etc).
Required Equipment
The Pascagoula Run requires a Coast Guard approved PFD which must be worn throughout entire race while you and your vessel are on the water. *Any violations will be addressed by the Race Director* We strongly recommend bug spray with DEET, as both horseflies and gnats are indigenous to the area.
Alcohol & Controlled Substances
The use of alcohol/controlled substances before or during the race is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
BIB Placement
Bib number is to be securely attached to the left side front of your boat. *Inadequate placement of your # may result in inaccurate, missing or delayed race time*
Disputes
All disputes will be resolved by the race director, whose decision is final.
