Bozeman Marathon and Half Marathon

Join us for the 2019 Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday, September 8! The races run through beautiful Gallatin Valley crossing over rivers and running by farms with the Bridger Mountain range in the background. The end of the race will finish on historic Main Street in Bozeman, Montana. Refreshments and awards will take place at the finish area at the conclusion of the race. The Bozeman Marathon is also a Boston Marathon qualifier!

Registration and Deferral Policy

Registration is online-only. There is no race day registration. We encourage you to sign up early to get the best price! We are not able to provide registration refunds. We understand that things happen and we want you to have the opportunity to enjoy our events. For those who have registered but cannot participate this year, we will grant you the ability to defer your marathon or half marathon registration to 2020. The cost to defer your registration to 2020 is $20. Deferral requests must be submitted by September 1, 2019. If you miss this deadline, consider your registration a donation to the Bozeman Hawks XC team. Participants are allowed to make a single year deferral per entry. Deferring for multiple years is not permitted.

Bus Shuttles

All runners must take the shuttle buses to the start of both the marathon and half marathon. The city has ensured us that tow trucks will be towing any and all cars parked on the side of the road or along the course.

Shuttle buses will shuttle marathon and half marathon participants from downtown Bozeman (in front of Bozeman Running Company at 126 E. Main St.) to the starting lines of each race. There will be race staff insuring that you have a race bib before you load the bus. No bib, no ride. No exceptions.

The marathon shuttles will depart at 5:45 AM on Sunday, September 8.
The half marathon shuttles will depart at 7:00 AM on Sunday, September 8.

Drop Bag Transport

Drop bags will be transported from both starting lines to the finish area where runners can reclaim their belongings.

Course Maps

Course maps for the marathon and half marathon can be found here.

Charities

All net proceeds from the events will be donated to the Bozeman Hawks XC Team.

Fire/Smoke Policy

We will follow the Montana Department of Environmental Quality measurements to make decisions regarding race day. While Montana does have a fire season, Bozeman is usually rather fortunate in that air quality is usually not comprised, thanks to our higher elevation and distance from active fires. However, if air quality reaches the unhealthy level, race officials reserve the right to cancel the event. Previous years we have mostly been in the moderate range.
