23K, 50K, and 50 mile Trail Races

The 23k – 8am start

This run is primarily through unforgiving, remote, and spectacular Montana back country. Experience real Montana….leave civilization behind.
?The course is approximately 14 miles long. 70% non-motorized technical trail, 30% maintained Forest Service Road.
?2,900 feet of elevation gain.
?Elevation ranges between 4,800 feet and 7,200 feet above sea level.
?Asphalt? No. Concrete? No. Forests, meadows, rocks, and cold, clear creeks to splash through? Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
?Chase Deer, Elk, Moose, Bear, Coyote, Mountain Goats, and Badgers…maybe get chased by them.
?Generous 7 hour cut off time is allowed. Take your time, enjoy the great Montana outdoors.
?Low key, laid back Montana atmosphere. Have fun, then enjoy some post-race snacks and share your race experience.

This challenging course provides a glimpse of what running a trail ultra is like. Conquer it and you are ready to graduate to the 50K.

The 50k – 7am start

This run is primarily through unforgiving, remote, and spectacular Montana back country. Experience real Montana….leave civilization behind.
?The course is approximately 32 mile long. 78% non-motorized technical trail, 8% rough and rocky jeep/ATV trail, 14% maintained Forest Service Road.
?7,400 feet of elevation gain.
?Elevation ranges between 4,800 feet and 8,000 feet above sea level.
?Asphalt? No. Concrete? No. Forests, meadows, rocks, and cold, clear creeks to splash through? Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
?Chase Deer, Elk, Moose, Bear, Coyote, Mountain Goats, and Badgers…maybe get chased by them.
?The 14.5 hour cut off time is allowed to match the 50 mile finish time. Take your time, enjoy the great Montana outdoors.
?Low key, laid back Montana atmosphere…..like ultrarunning used to be. Once you finish, we invite you to hang out in the finish area, enjoy post-race food and drinks, and share your race experience.

The course is challenging for both new and experienced trail runners, but finishing is not impossibly difficult.

The 50 mile – 5am start

This run is primarily through unforgiving, remote, and spectacular Montana back country. Experience real Montana…..leave civilization behind.
?The course is approximately 52.5 miles long. 66% non-motorized technical trail, 20% rough and rocky jeep/ATV trail, 14% maintained Forest Service Road.
?13,000 feet of elevation gain.
?Elevation ranges between 4,800 feet and 9,000 feet above sea level.
?Asphalt? No. Concrete? No. Forests, meadows, rocks, a mountain lake, and cold, clear creeks to splash through? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.
?Run through the historic ghost town of Elkhorn and past the historic Elkhorn cemetery.
?Chase Deer, Elk, Moose, Bear, Coyote, Mountain Goats, and Badgers…maybe get chased by them.
?Low key, laid back Montana atmosphere…..like ultrarunning used to be. Once you finish, we invite you to hang out in the finish area, enjoy post-race food and drinks, and share your race experience.

We challenge you to find a more difficult 50 mile course anywhere.
