The Merckx Road Series is back for 2023 with a little bit of something for every style of rider. Throw down your fastest time in the "race of truth", a Merckx style time trial. Channel your inner sprinter during two criteriums around Big Sky Brewery, and save your legs for the beautifully rolling course at the Bearmouth Chalet road race.
The Merckx Road Series is intended to provide local road racing opportunities for all ability levels - from first time racers to seasoned roadies. As in 2022, we will hold racing clinics for beginners learning the sport, and experienced riders looking to sharpen their craft before both criterium races. Clinics will be led by a cadre of the most elite level road racers in Western Montana.
We will be scoring all 4 events for a series top-three women's and men's podium. Prizes will be schwag from local businesses. Medals for individual events in the series.
Stage Scoring: 1st = 20, 2nd = 18, 3rd = 16, 4th = 14, 5th, 12, 6th = 10, 7th = 8, 8th = 6, 9th = 4, 10th = 2, all finishing participants get 1 point.
All riders will also be included in an individual list of results for each stage.
The 2023 Merckx Time Trial location is TBD. MTCX is currently working with the local municipalities to finalize the course for this event. Check back here for updates early spring 2023.
Much more than just your quintessential 4-corner crit, the Merckx Criterium course features elevation changes and a sweeping turn for added excitement. Taking place around the iconic Big Sky Brewery in Missoula, MT., the Merckx Criterium course is full of primetime spectating vantage points.
Buckle up for a fast and rolling 30 mile out and back course starting at the Bearmouth Chalet and Campground. Racers will test their legs on the Drummond Frontage Road rollers and cross the finish line after a slight downhill and flat finishing straight. Centerline rule strictly enforced. There will be one follow car for each peloton of experience levels.
