Business in the front. Party in the back. The Mullet Classic is a two-rider team race where one racer handles the uphill "business," the other racer the downhill "party." Stick around after the race for the Missoula mountain biking party of the summer!
$25 for MTB Missoula members, $35 per non-member
Registration & Format
The race begins with a Le Mans start in the base area. "Business riders" run to their bikes and ascend the course. They may encounter some limited descending and technical challenges, but let there be no mistake -- this stage is for the legs and the lungs.
Then, the "Party rider" completes the descending segment, their choice of either Hello Kitty (blue) or Bjorn Again (black).
SAFETY WARNING: Bjorn Again is a black diamond rated downhill trail. Please use extreme caution. Highly advised that riders younger than 12 race Hello Kitty, not Bjorn Again. Beginning to intermediate descenders will not be allowed on Bjorn Again. Descenders must choose their trail at racer check-in.
Food Trucks: River City Eats, Dreamy's Soft Serve Ice Cream
Cash Bar: Big Sky Brewing beer and hard seltzer, N/A bevs
Entertainment: Wild Prairie Smoke
Awards: race category winners, racer w/ best style
Little's Mullet: 4:30 pm at the Base Area, register day of event. Free for all kids still growing out their mullet. This event will take place within the park base-area.
Race results: Results are based on a team's combined racing times. There is no "hand-off" or other timed exchange between teammates.
Race starts: Race categories will be split between 5:00 and 6:00 start times to accommodate a wide-range of racer levels and to allow a clear downhill run. All Hello Kitty downhillers will start during the 5:00 wave series. Downhillers should begin climbing at least 40 minutes prior to their wave's start time.
Uphill racers should descend the Easy-up route following their race to avoid downhill racers.
