Description
The postpartum period is a time of significant change and challenge. A common misconception is that once you are cleared for activity by your doctor at the six week postpartum mark, you are ready to return to all of your favorite sports. However, just like any other injury or surgery, our bodies in the postpartum period require a comprehensive rehabilitation plan. In this talk, we will go over what recovery and exercise should look like from day zero postpartum all the way through starting a return to run plan. Even if you are not immediately in the postpartum period, this talk will be helpful if you feel like you haven't "felt the same" running since having your baby or if you are considering having a baby in the future. As a society, we do not educate our new mothers well in regards to the postpartum period and this talk is meant to educate on the recovery process and ways to know if you are in fact ready to return to run postpartum.
There are two options for attending this talk. Option one is the in-person talk in the Runner's Edge basement. We will be capping this to twenty people and encouraging social distancing and for people to wear masks. Option two is to attend via Zoom. The presentation will be streamed virtually so if you would prefer to tune in from your home, sign up for the virtual event and a link will be emailed to you prior to the start of the presentation.
