FAQ
Why is the Turkey Trot Free?
The Turkey Trot is free to be accessible to all folks in our community who want to get outside moving on a day we normally don't. We’d also like to encourage anyone who is able and willing to make a donation to do so. All donations go directly towards BareTooth Cupboards and Beartooth Humane Alliance. BareTooth Cupboards will receive 90% of donations and Beartooth Humane Alliance will receive 10%. At this time, we are unable to accept in-kind donations of food. No monetary gift is too small.
Where does the race go?
The race starts just outside of the Edgar Gruel Building at the Rodeo Grounds. Everyone will start going South out to White Ave where a volunteer will turn you around to head back towards the Edgar Gruel Building. 1.5 Mile walkers and runners can peel off here and grab a snack and hot beverage. The 3 milers will continue north towards the dog park where a volunteer will turn you around to come back to finish at the Edgar Gruel Building.
What do I get for registering?
A good time! Aside from a light post-race snack table and hotcoco, there are no freebies at a free race.
Are there shirts?
This year we are not doing shirts or sweatshirts. Any participants who donates $30 or more will receive a complimentary laser engraved to-go mug!
Are there prizes?
No. This is an untimed, free, just for fun event. We will have a clock up so curious minds can see their time. We will be pre-running the course and for every person who can run it faster, we’ll donate an extra $1 to BareTooth Cupboards!
Can I bring…
My dog? Yep. Please keep your dog on a leash and plan on picking up their poop. We’ll have extra poop bags on scene. Dogs are not allowed in the Edgar Gruel Building and this will be enforced. Water dishes for dogs and treats will be available outside the building.
A stroller? Yep. The route is all on pavement with one section of well packed gravel.
A strider bike? Yep. Kiddos on bikes are welcome but they MUST WEAR A HELMET. We’d prefer if adults only ran or walked or stayed in the back if on a bike. Again, helmets required for anyone biking, blading, scooting.
What if the weather is bad?
Dress accordingly. This event happens snow or shine or wind or rain and we’ve seen it all so look outside or check the weather and come with the right clothing on.
Are there snacks?
We’ll have a small spread of post race snacks and beverages but the intention is not for you to fill up before you go home and feast!
