Turkey Trot

$0 10:00AM MST - 12:00PM MST Registration ends November 25, 2021 at 11:59pm MST
Description

Your favorite holiday event in Red Lodge is back again. A free, family and dog friendly run/walk at the Rodeo Grounds in Red Lodge. The course is a 3-mile, double out and back which makes it perfect for the 1/2 trot option of 1.5 miles as well. Even though there is no cost to participate, we ask that all participants sign up online (or in person on event day) to ensure they are covered under our insurance and we get an accurate count of participants.

Well behaved dogs welcomed on a leash, please bring poop bags! We will have a dog handler volunteer outside of the building to hold your dog while you register or grab post-event snacks as dogs are not allowed inside.

Strollers are welcome, please check the weather prior to the event to ensure your stroller tires are adequate!

We will do our best with what Mother Nature delivers so plan on warm weather, cold weather, or who knows what kind of weather!

All donations will go to BareTooth Cupboards. At this time, BareTooth Cupboards is not able to accept in-kind donations. While the event is free, we ask that all participants consider making a donation to BareTooth Cupboards. You can do this buy donating when you register, or bringing a cash or check donation -all amounts are welcome and no gift is too small.

COVID CHANGES

The Turkey Trot is a family favorite tradition in Red Lodge and while the rules might be different this year, we hope it continues to be a cherished holiday event! To host this event it will require special efforts on everyone’s part: Race Director, volunteers, and most importantly, participants! Below you’ll find the changes to the 2020 Turkey Trot that will ensure we keep everyone safe this year.

  • All registrations will be online. No day of registration
    • Aside from saving lots of paper, online registration will eliminate the person-to-person contact associated with day of registration.
Online registration is EASY and still free. Click here to get registered.
  • All participants and volunteers will be required to wear masks.
    • Volunteers will wear masks at all times, no exceptions. Participants are required to wear masks at all times except when they are running/walking in the actual event. If you cannot agree to this rule, please do not attend the event.
  • Traffic will enter one direction and leave another direction.
    • Participants will drive into the parking area via Highway 78 to get checked in and parked for the event. Participants will exit the parking area via the South side coming out on White Avenue. With a waved start, participants will be more spread out along the course and we want to limit all vehicle car interactions.
  • Each car will be greeted and briefed by a volunteer.
    • As you enter the parking area (from Highway 78), a volunteer will greet your car. Please wear your mask for this interaction as a volunteer will be wearing theirs. The volunteer will check your name on the registration list, accept any donations to BareTooth Cupboards, and deliver your T-shirt if you purchased one in advance.
  • Participants will stay in their cars until race time.
    • Cars will be parked in the order they arrive. Participants will be instructed to stay in their cars until race time. The bathrooms will be open, but please do not use this time to congregate in groups. At 9:50, the first wave of participants will be notified to line up. A volunteer will notify the first 50 people based of the first cars that parked.  The race will start at 10. At 10:00, the next 50 people will be notified to line up and they will start at 10:10.  This process will continue as long as necessary based off participant numbers.
  • Other things to note:
    • BareTooth Cupboards is not currently accepting in-kind donations. This year, we ask that you make a donation (no gift is too small) online during your registration or on event day by cash or check.
    • The Edgar Gruel building will be closed to participants except for bathroom use. There will be a volunteer at the door of the building letting participants in to ensure there are not too many people congregating inside.
    • There will be no snack or beverage table. Out of an abundance of caution and to reduce participant congestion, please plan on bringing your own snacks and beverages.
    • The inflatable turkey will be up for family photos. Please distance your group as you take photos.
    • Shirts will be available for pre-purchase only. Must be purchased by November 17th.
