ABOUT STAND UP-MAUD 2.23

“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community.” Cesar Chavez.

Join Together We Stand NC and our invested partners for the 4th Annual Stand Up: Maud 2.23. This run/walk will be held to honor the memory of the late Ahmaud Arbery and encourage our participants and greater community to STAND UP and speak about the senseless violence because of racism, ignorance, and hate.

Together We Stand was founded in June 2020 as an antidote to the increasing and divisive acts of racism, fear, and ignorance. What was originally designed as a memorial run has evolved into multiple opportunities for unity and courageous conversations. Through these conversations we are shining a spotlight on how racism and hate erode all our lives while working to change our hearts and actions.

From February 23-March 2, 2024, Stand Up-Maud 2.23 runs/events are scheduled to take place in 8 cities across North Carolina: Durham, Raleigh, Fayetteville, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, and High Point. Each Stand Up event benefits a local charity in each city.

2024 partners include Fleet Feet, CEP Compression, Locklaces, The Glass Jug RTP, Ponysaurus Brewing, Fullsteam Brewery, Proximity Brewing, and Goofy Foot Taproom.

Registration is $28 and includes a long sleeve Stand Up tee shirt All registered runners/walkers also receive a chance to win prizes including free running shoes. A portion of the proceeds from the events will benefit local charities in each city.

Please feel free to attend a Courageous Conversation, our safe-space event to engage.  The subject of our 2024 Courageous Conversation is The Language of Racism and Hate.

For the second year, several of our brewery partners have brewed a special “Stand Up” beer to support the event.  A portion of proceeds from the sale of the beer will benefit a local charity.

We invite you to join us for Stand Up and we ask that you remember and honor Ahmaud Arbery and all the others who have lost their lives because of hate. Join us as Stand Up and Run as ONE.
