ABOUT MAUD 2.23: STAND UP TO RACISM AND HATE
I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept-.” Dr. Angela Y. Davis
Join Together We Stand NC for Maud 2.23: Stand Up to Racism and Hate. This run/walk will be held to honor the memory of Ahmaud Arbery and encourage our participants and greater community to speak about the senseless violence because of racism and hate.
Together We Stand began in June 2020 as an antidote to the increasing and divisive acts of racism, fear, and ignorance. What was originally designed as a memorial run has evolved into multiple opportunities for unity and courageous conversations. Through these conversations we are shining a spotlight on how racism and hate erode all our lives while working to change our hearts and actions.
From February 18-25, 2023, Maud 2.23 runs are scheduled to take place in 7 cities across North Carolina: Durham, Raleigh, Fayetteville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, and High Point. Each Maud 2.23 run benefits a local charity in each city.
2023 partners include George Linney Mortgage, HOKA, Feetures, Locklaces, Fleet Feet Sports, Omega Sports, RunCLTRun, The Glass Jug RTP, Ponysaurus Brewing, Fullsteam Brewery, NoDa Brewing Co., Divine Barrel Brewing, and Goofy Foot Taproom.
Registration is $28 and includes a Maud 2.23 LS shirt and a pair of Feetures performance socks. All registered runners/walkers also receive a chance to win prizes including free running shoes from HOKA.
Together We Stand NC has decided to funnel the donations from all Durham events and t-shirt sales to Porch Durham. For more information about Porch Durham, please visit www.porchcommunities.com
Please feel free to attend a Courageous Conversation, our safe-space event to engage. The subject of our 2023 Courageous Conversation is The Language of Racism and Hate.
We invite you to join us for Maud 2.23 and we ask that you remember and honor Ahmaud Arbery and all the others who have lost their lives because of hate. Join us as We Run as ONE.
