ABOUT MAUD 2.23
Together We Stand NC was founded following the murder of Ahmaud Arbery with the intention of bringing awareness to the daily plight of people of color. Until recently, this case was one of the least talked about cases involving racial prejudice. Arbery’s case mirrors the murder of Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012. Both cases involved extreme incidents of racial profiling the led to the deaths of two innocent young Black men.
The recent convictions of Greg and Travis McMichael and William Bryant bring accountability to this case but it did not bring justice. A just world is one where Arbery is still alive, able to run whenever and wherever he'd like. A just world would have allowed him to run home to his mother's arms.
From February 20-26, 2022, Together We Stand will again host the Maud 2.23 event to shine a spotlight on racism and injustice and to unite toward hope in the future.
We invite you to join us for Maud 2.23.
Thank you to our presenting partners: HOKA, CEP Compression, Fleet Feet Sports, RunCLTRun, Omega Sports, and LockLaces.
We ask you to remember and honor Ahmaud Arbery as We Run as ONE.
