EVENT DETAILS
Date and Start
Saturday, December 19, 2026. First yard: 8:00 AM EST. The field is limited to 500 runners.
Miami Backyard Ultra is open-ended, with no predetermined yard cap or finishing time.
The Basin
Miami Marine Stadium / Virginia Key, Miami, Florida. The planned course combines dirt trail with paved or concrete sections through the Basin setting. Each yard will measure 4 miles and 880 feet, or 6.7056 km, approximately 4.167 miles.
The same course is planned for the entire race, including after dark. The final measured course map, surface notes and nighttime instructions will be published before race day.
Parking and Arrival
Parking and arrival procedures are being finalized. Detailed runner, crew and spectator parking instructions will be included in the Athlete Guide before race weekend.
Race Village and Basecamp
The race village and runner basecamp are planned around the start and finish area, giving runners a place to return, recover and prepare for the next yard. Final footprint assignments, canopy rules, crew access and overnight procedures will be published in the Athlete Guide. A registration planning response does not reserve a particular space or service.
Aid
MBU plans to provide common race aid including water, ice and hydration support. Final aid locations and procedures will be published in the Athlete Guide. Personal crew assistance is only permitted between yards in the designated support area.
Bring the familiar nutrition, hydration and personal supplies you expect to use between yards. No specific on-course aid station is confirmed.
Crew and Spectators
Crew and spectators are welcome in designated areas. Crew may support runners between yards. During a yard, crew members, spectators, eliminated runners and other non-competitors may not accompany a runner or provide personal aid. Keep the course, starting corral and emergency access routes clear. Final access procedures will be published before race day.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup times, location and check-in requirements are being finalized. The Athlete Guide and final race-week update will include complete instructions.
Night Running and Weather
If you expect to continue after dark, plan for a headlamp and backup light. Final required-gear and visibility instructions will be included in the Athlete Guide.
Prepare for heat and humidity, sun, rain, changing nighttime conditions and prolonged time outdoors. Follow the Athlete Guide and race-day safety instructions.
