About the Event

Q: What is the Finish Strong 5K?

A:  The Finish Strong 5K: The Haunted Gauntlet is our annual in-person event to celebrate the culmination of the Move Better Healthy Competition. This year, it's a Halloween-themed 5K with optional spooky "Healthy Haunt" challenges. It's an opportunity for team members, family, and friends to come together for a fun 5K run or walk.

Q: When and where is the 5K taking place?

A: The 5K will be held on the morning of Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Bell Works (101 Crawfords Corner Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733).

Q: Who is the Honorary Chairperson for the race?

A: We are honored to have Caitlin Miller as our Honorary Chairperson for this year's Finish Strong 5K: The Haunted Gauntlet. We are thrilled to have her leadership and support for this exciting community event.

Q: Does participating in the virtual "Move Better" challenge automatically sign me up for the 5K?

A: No. The virtual challenge and the in-person 5K are separate. You must register for the 5K separately.

Q: Do I have to be a runner to participate?

A: Not at all! This event is for everyone. You are welcome to walk or run at your own pace. The goal is to celebrate movement, have fun, and enjoy the spooky season.

Q: Can my family and friends join me?

A: Yes! The 5K is a great event to share with your family. Please check the registration page for details about non-team member participation.

Q: How can I prepare for the 5K?

A: Our Move Better Guide includes an optional training plan to help you prepare, whether you're starting from the couch or already active. 



Registration

Q: How do I register for the 5K?

A: Registration is quick and easy through RunSignUp. You must register for the 5K separately from the Move Better Healthy Competition. Use this link:  Finish Strong 5K Registration You can also follow a step-by-step guide or watch a short video tutorial to walk through the process here. Once registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Q: I want to add someone to my registration.

A: Each participant must register individually. To register a friend or family member, start a new registration using the same link.

Q: I can’t find my confirmation number or confirmation email.

A: Log into your RunSignUp account and go to Profile → Upcoming Races. There you can view, print, or re-send your confirmation.

Q: My payment isn’t going through. What should I do?

A: Double-check your credit card details and billing address. If issues continue, try another card or contact your bank. RunSignUp support is also available here by submitting a support ticket or emailing info@runsignup.com

Q: I am having issues registering for the Race on RunSignUp.

A: Please refer to the step-by-step instructions or video tutorial linked here. If you still have issues, reach out to RunSignUp support at info@runsignup.com.

Q: What is the deadline to register?

A: Registration ends October 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM EDT. Race-day registration may be available if space allows. However, to guarantee a t-shirt you must register by October 9, 2026.  For anyone registering after October 9th, t-shirts will be available on race day at check-in on a first come, first served basis.

 


 

Shirts & Swag

Q: How do I select my shirt size?

A: You’ll select your shirt size during registration. Shirts are available in Adult sizes (XS-4XL). 

Q: I need to change my shirt size.

A: Shirt size changes can be made in your RunSignUp profile until the shirt order deadline of October 9, 2026 (if sizes are available).

Q: What is the deadline to be guaranteed a t-shirt in my size?

A: Register by October 9, 2026 to guarantee your preferred size. After that, shirts are distributed first-come, first-served while supplies last.

 


 

Race Day & Timing

Q: Is the race timed? How will I see my results?

A: If you would like to be timed and eligible for age group awards, please ensure you register for the "Competitive 5K" option on RunSignUp. The race will be officially timed, and all participants in this category will receive a timing chip. Results will be posted live on RunSignUp and displayed at the race site. If you plan to participate for fun you will not receive a chip-timed race bib, but all participants can see their finish time on the official race clock at the finish line.

Q: Will there be age group awards or prizes?

A: Yes! Awards will be given to top overall finishers and age group winners in the 5K who select Competitive 5K upon registration.

Q: Will there be Costume & Team Spirit Awards?

A: Yes! Get creative for The Haunted Gauntlet! In the spirit of Halloween, we're holding a costume and team spirit challenge. Form a team or fly solo and dress in your best costume for the race. We'll be giving out awards at the finish line for the best costumes, spookiest creations, and team spirit, in addition to our age group finalist medals.

Q: Can I pick up the race packet for a friend or family member?

A: Yes, you may pick up packets for friends or family. Please bring their confirmation email to speed up the process.

Q: What happens if it rains? What is the cancellation policy? Can I get my money back?

A: The event will take place rain or shine. In the case of extreme weather, the race may be delayed or canceled for safety. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Your fee for attendance will support the Circle of Compassion program, which provides financial assistance to team members who are facing emergent and unforeseen catastrophic events.

Q: Will there be photos taken during the event?

A: Yes, event photos will be posted on the race website after the event.


Course & Accessibility

Q: Is the course accessible for participants with disabilities (e.g., wheelchair-friendly)?

A: Yes, the course is paved and suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. For safety, please line up toward the back at the start.

Q: Will there be water stations on the course?

A: Yes, water will be available at the halfway point and at the finish line.
