Description
The 19th Annual Beach Blast 5K is one of the region's premier road races.
The Beginning -
Back in 2004, at one of the the first meetings of the newly formed Uwharrie Running Club, Peter Asciutto, Derek Blalock, Matt Greene, Lee Allen and Joanne Rinker met at the Firehouse Cafe in Downtown Albemarle and put together our plan for the 1st ever Beach Blast 5K. We asked ourselves "What makes a great race?"
Our answers - A great course, awesome goody bag with stuff in them, cool t-shirts, great post race snacks, and awards. 19-years later, those goals are still the same.
Our Goal is to put on a first-class race, that is challenging and fun. In 2023 we will limit the race to 300 participants.
We are upgrading to a super soft premium shirt and medal this year!
Awards will be given to top 3 In each Age Category!

2023 Details
Packet Pickup is at Uwharrie Dash - 154 S. First St, Albemarle, NC 28001 Thursday 9-5:30, Friday 9-5:30, Saturday 7 am to 7:45 am. Race Day Registration is available.
Practice Runs- Practice runs are held every Sunday at 7am and Monday at 5:45 pm. Practice runs start at the Stanly County Courthouse and will be held up until race day.
Parking - There is plenty of Parking at Uwharrie Dash. You can park in the two parking lots across the street from us, you can park behind our store, there is plenty of street parking, plus, there is a parking lot at the corner of First and Main. BONUS- Albemarle Sweet Shop, famously known for its Clown Cookies, is located at the end of the large parking lot across the street from Vac & Dash.
Places to eat after the race- Morning Glory Coffee House - 134 N. Main Street, Donut Dinette - 139 N. First Street, Second Street Sundries - 221 N. Second Street
Bathrooms- There are two bathrooms at Uwharrie Dash.
