Run a race & watch a movie at one of the most unique night running events in the South. The 9th Annual Vac & Dash Moonlight 5K, 10-Miler, Double Feature 1/2 Marathon & Movie starts and finishes at the Badin Road Drive-In in Albemarle, NC. Movies to be announced. This is a chip timed event.
Entry fee includes watching a movie. If you have family or friends watching the movie, the admission fee is Under 5 - Free, 6-11 $5.00 12 plus - $7.00
The Badin Road Drive-In is a great venue to host a race. Indoors rest rooms and concession stand.
COVID-19 safety procedures will be in place for the 2020 event. All results will be based on Chip Times rather than Gun Times. Also, the start time for the 10-miler has been modified to allow for a rolling start time. The start time for the 10-miler has been changed to a window of 8:00 to 8:15 pm. You can start anytime between then. Just check in with Brad Smythe from Clockwork Race Timing when you start.
Also, all 10-Mile runners must wear reflective clothing and have a head lamp, flashlight, etc. Time limit of 2:45 for the 10-miler. 16:30 pace.
In 2020 we will cap the following events at the following participants. 5K - 100 10-Miler - 100 Double Feature Runner -100
Starts at 7:00 pm. Registrations will be limited to 100 participants.
We will have runners separated at the start in rows of 10 runners with 10 yards between the rows. Results will be based on chip time, rather than gun time.
Awards - Top Three Male and Female - Top Three Male and Female in the following age groups - 1-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 +
Participants get a long sleeve soft cotton t-shirt.
The run will be held on Sunday evening, September 6th. It is the Sunday night before Labor Day. Come on out and get your race in. Enjoy a movie afterwards.
The 5K starts at 7:00 pm and is a relatively flat course for the Albemarle. Moonlight 5K Course.
The start time for the 10-miler has been changed to a rolling start window of 8:00 to 8:15 pm. You can start anytime between then. Just check in with Brad Smythe from Clockwork Race Timing when you start. Race is capped at 100 participants.
This year the start will be on the street behind the drive-in. The start/finish will be in the same spot.
Results for the 10-miler will be based on chip time. Top Three Overall - Male and Female. Age Groups 1-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 plus. Finishers get a finishers award.
Participants get a soft long sleeve cotton t-shirt.
The Course is a down and back route. Part of the route is held in Morrow Mountain State Park. Course Map
Also, this is a great event to bring your support crew to, as they can watch a movie while you are running the 10-Miler.
By running both races you will be in the Double Feature Half-Marathon (3.1 + 10 = 13.1 miles). The Double Feature 1/2 Marathon is entry into both the 5K & 10-mile run. Your times will be combined for your half-marathon time. 5K Starts at 7:00 pm. Once you finish the 5K, you can rest a bit and prepare for the 10-Miler. 10-Miler will be a rolling start. You can start anytime between 8:00 pm and 8:15 pm. Make sure to wear reflective lights and clothing.
Awards to Top Three Males and Females. Double Feature Finisher Awards to all finishers. (You will also get a 10-Miler Finish Award.)
All participants will get a Long Sleeved Comfort Colors Hooded T-shirt and visor.
Participation in the Double Feature 1/2 Marathon is limited to 100 participants.
Note: You are guaranteed a shirt if you register by 8/31.
Packet Pickup will be held Wednesday September 2 - Thursday September 3 and Friday September 4 at Vac & Dash from 11-5:30 on Saturday September 5 from 9:30-2:00
Race Day Registration and Packet Pick-up will be held on Sunday September 6th at the Badin Road Drive-In beginning at 6:00 pm.
Donations are being accepted to benefit the United Way of Stanly County. Donate $15.00 and receive a Moonlight Koozie. Donate $25.00 and receive a Moonlight Hat.
