The Carolina Food Run Challenges 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, or (NEW) 240 Miles

Wave Two - August 15 - September 26, 2020

The Food Run challenge puts you in control of you! Designed to motivate you to move more, each challenge also provides you an opportunity to help feed those facing serious food insecurity in our community right now.

You Can Join The Challenge Anytime!

You can join a challenge anytime before its 6-week completion date, and you can also back date your miles as far as the start date at any time. We will also periodically launch additional “Waves” for each challenge, which will give you a new target completion date each time.

THIS IS A SIX-WEEK CHALLENGE

You can set your goal to move as few as five miles per week or challenge yourself to cover as many as 40 miles per week. As you cover your miles, our virtual challenge website totals up the distance you enter and tracks your progress for you.

These challenges are simple:

1. Do what you want to do, when you want to do it, from wherever you are (run, walk, bike, swim, whatever!).
2. Connect and track your progress on our race page and share with your fellow participants on our facebook groups.
3. Get your limited edition Carolina Food Run Challenge T-Shirt and car magnet medal!

LET’S MAKE A $1,000,000 IMPACT!
ALL CHALLENGERS SUPPORT LOCAL FOOD BANKS AND HUNGER RELIEF PROGRAMS

100% of All Donations support local food banks and hunger relief programs, to directly help people who are in dire need of food. Before Covid-19, 1 in 9 Americans struggled with food insecurity. As a result of Covid-19, food insecurity is expected to more than double worldwide. Our goal is to raise One Million Dollars to support local hunger relief programs throughout North America. Each individual challenge supports regional food banks or hunger relief programs, all of which are listed on the challenge websites.

In the Carolinas, we have already raised over $26,000 and our UPDATED goal is to raise $30,000 in the Carolinas to support local programs, including Feeding The Carolinas, The Inter-faith Council for Social Service, Table, and Beautiful Together.

What Is Food Insecurity?

What is food insecurity?

Food insecurity describes a household’s inability to provide enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life. Food insecurity is one way we can measure and assess the risk of hunger. In the United States currently, one in nine people struggle with hunger.

What causes food insecurity?

One "bad month" can be enough to plunge a household into food insecurity. Layoffs at work, unexpected car maintenance or an accident on the job can suddenly force a family to choose between buying food and paying bills. A global pandemic only heightens this vulnerability.

That’s why many working families, including thousands of households who don’t qualify for federal nutrition assistance, depend on the Feeding America network of food banks to help make ends meet during difficult times. The Feeding America network serves nearly every community in the United States, helping more than more than 40 million people — including 12 million children and 7 million seniors.
