The Apex Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 5K race, walk, and fun run on Saturday, May 16, 2015 here in town from 9 AM - 12 Noon benefitting Alzheimers North Carolina, Inc. (AlzNC). We look forward to seeing hundreds of runners and walkers come out to join Apex businesses in supporting the AlzNC mission.  It will be a fun morning for the whole family benefiting a great local cause!

For more than 30 years, Alzheimers North Carolina has been dedicated to providing education, support, and services to individuals with dementia, their families, health care professionals, and the general public while raising awareness and funding for research of a cause(s), treatment, prevention, and cure for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. All funds raised and contributions received remain in North Carolina. You can learn more about Alzheimers North Carolina at www.alznc.org.

Information

Race Location: Apex Town Hall (73 Hunter St., Apex, NC 27502). Race registration and refreshments are located at Apex Town Hall.

Course Information: The course is on the roads of downtown Apex near Town Hall, along sidewalks, and the Shepherd's Vineyard neighborhood paved greenway trail. The race starts and finishes at Apex Town Hall.

Events: Everyone is welcome to participate! This is event has both competitive and recreational categories. Competitive participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online. Recreational participants will only have a digital clock at the finish line and no timed results. All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race!

Prizes: Competitive 5K Top 3 Overall male and female finishers will receive awards are sponsored by Omega Sports (Crossroads location). Kids Dash participants will get participant awards.

Athletic Trainer: An athletic trainer will be available at a medical tent located near the finish line.

Water Stations: There will be two water stations on the course. Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area. The water stations are marked on the map.

Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID or be with a guardian with a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets and can only pick up their own race packet.

Race Souvenirs: The 5K race registration fee includes a t-shirt. Additional shirts are available for $10. Shirts are available in the following adult sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, and XXL. Register by May 1st to be guaranteed a shirt.

Online registration closes on May 15th at 9 PM. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.

Competitive 5K (Chip Timed Results): T-shirt included with registration.

Fit & Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs. We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for underprivileged children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary. Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit & Able nonprofit activities.
