The Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, provides support for cancer patients and their families who live on Hatteras Island. Founded in December 2000, the group’s primary goal is to raise funds to offer financial support for patients to help them pay for medical costs not reimbursed by insurance and to pay for travel expenses for themselves and their caregivers to medical centers for cancer treatment.
This year we are starting back with in-person racing and it will be a COLOR BLAST race! Different stations will be set up to "blast" you with color! It's colored baby powder and is not harmful to humans or clothing. It's best to wear our race T-shirts or your choice of white clothing for the full effect!
The cost for the 5k is $45. Runners, walkers, bikers, and strollers are welcome. This is a timed event so walkers and strollers are asked to start at the back of the pack.
Thank you for your support and participation.

Virtual Race FAQs
What is a virtual run?
A virtual race is an event where you sign up and participate on a course of your choosing (or a treadmill). Without physical races going on right now, this is a great opportunity to work towards your running goals, stay healthy and support a great cause, while following social distancing guidelines!
The event will feature a leaderboard so you can still see how you stack up against your fellow competitors!
Where do I run?
You can run at a course of your choosing, including on a treadmill. Be sure to follow current CDC and local guidance and keep 6 feet away from anyone that you run around, or by, to keep as safe as possible.
When do I run?
You can run (or walk) anytime on October 7-10, 2022.
Will this race be timed?
The virtual run will not be officially timed, but by using the RaceJoy app, you can receive a GPS-based time which will automatically submit your time for you. There will be an online leaderboard showing everyone's times.
How do I post my results?
The easiest way is to use RaceJoy during the race! If you choose not to use RaceJoy, then you can visit the results page and click the "Submit Virtual Results" link at the top of the page.
When/how will I get my swag?
Swag will be shipped out directly to your address.
