Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cherokee Choices has decided that the 2020 Mother's Day 5K Run/Walk [originally scheduled for May 9th] will be a Virtual Event. Our goal is to keep everyone active and safe while still celebrating all of our wonderful Moms.
This “do it yourself” event will allow participants to run or walk at any time and any location that is convenient and safe for you and your families. You don't even have to live in WNC. While not required – you can submit your time for inclusion in the online “just for fun” results. We will collect times beginning on Friday May 1st until Monday May 11th. Instructions on "How to submit your virtual times" are found below and will be included when you register.
Online Registration will be the only option this year and will remain open until 5PM on Monday May 11th.
Everyone who signs up, regardless if you submit a time or not, will receive a fabulous Mother’s Day 5K shirt and a participant medal. Once safety measures are in place and the quarantine has been lifted both will be available for pick up at the Cherokee Choices offices. [Note: if you're from out of town - we'll have to figure something out.]
Take this opportunity to get outside and take a run/walk with your Mom.
And please do remember that All Proceeds (as in 100%) benefit the Tahnee's Kids Fund . Check out their website to learn more about all the great community services they provide. Donations are always welcome. Click on the DONATE button above or when you register.

Kituwah is known as the Mother Town of the Cherokee People. Hundreds of years ago, Kituwah Mound held the Council House and the first fire. Around the mound was the Cherokee village. During the time of the Removal (1830’s), the land was taken from the Cherokee including Kituwah. Just within the last 25 years, the land has been returned the People. Today it is many acres of farm land, although there is no village, the People use the land for gardens, dancing ceremonies and other important events Town
