Why we Run?
We are able to use this race as an outreach opportunity to share the Gospel with our community. Through the net proceeds each year, we are able to raise funds for various mission efforts, both locally and internationally.
This year is our local year, where our net proceeds will go to Western Carolina Rescue Missions. This is a ministry in Asheville, NC that’s serves men and women hot meals, nights of safe shelter, clothing, food boxes, free residential addiction recovery, life skills and job training and most importantly the rescue, recovery and restoration in Jesus’ name.
Our funds will directly benefit Abba’s House. Abba’s House is a program at WCRM that was created to help mothers and their infants obtain the recovery they need from addiction. This is a free 12 month residential program that equips mothers with the tools they need to maintain a substance abuse free lifestyle. Keeping mom and baby together, while mom participates in parenting classes, Bible studies, education and employment opportunities, homemaking skills and financial planning, allows Abba’s House to have women and their babies walk out rescued, recovered, restored and redeemed with hope and free from addiction.
Supporting Western Carolina Rescue Ministries and Abba’s House with our annual Carry Your Cross 5K, falls in line with Pole Creek’s new In the Womb Ministry that focuses on prioritizing human life, both in the womb and afterwards. We hope to help and support the most vulnerable among us.
At Pole Creek Baptist Church we encourage, educate and provide opportunities for our people to engage and support many ministries. Visit www.polecreek.org to learn more or download the Pole Creek app.
