Description
The NCRC Classic Half-Marathon & 10K Races are now in their 26th year and considered to be two of the Triangle area’s premier distance races. This year's race will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2025. The name of this race is changing this year (2025) to honor the memory of Joe Lugiano, a charter member of the North Carolina Roadrunners Club who served as the club's first president and in many roles since our founding in 1979. Joe, a legend in the Raleigh area running community who died Dec. 3, was also instrumental in the Umstead 100 Endurance Run. Joe spent numerous volunteer hours in his beloved Umstead State Park, home of the Umstead 100 and this race.
Both the half-marathon and 10K have USATF certified “out-and-back” courses that start on paved road, transition through crushed-gravel and the hard-packed bridle trails of Umstead State Park, and finish on pavement. Both the 13.1 and 10K courses officially close at 10:30 a.m.
Registration
The entry fee for the half-marathon is $55 from until April 30, and $60 thereafter. For the 10K, the fees are $30, and $35, respectively.
T-shirts are guaranteed to all those entered by April 27th.
Awards
In both races awards will be presented to the top three women overall, to the top three men overall and top three men and women masters. Both races award the top three finishers in each of the following age groups: 17-under, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-over.
Course

The course is out and back, you will finish at the same location you started. The first and last mile of the course is on pavement. The remainder of the course is on the multi-use use trail in Umstead Park. The multi-use trail is wide gravel road graded and compacted to be fairly smooth. The race does not use the single-track dirt trails.
While inside the park, please be courteous to other park visitors. Please allow bikes to pass!
Please stay on the left side of the paved road as you are finishing.
