The Fit & Able Trail Blazers Running Team (TBT) offers a wide range of training for everyone, from elementary school kids to senior masters athletes. All ages, skill levels, and abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate. Younger athletes are strongly encouraged to have their parents stay with the team during practice and racing. We encourage all our members to take part at whatever level they wish to participate, whether its improving their running abilities or just wanting to walk for fitness.
This is an ideal program for kids looking at running cross country and a great conditioning program to bridge athletes between seasons.
We strongly encourage athletes to participate in races to:
Running Team Training: TBT will meet twice a week to run, do core exercises, and flexibility/agility drills. The full season will run from Saturday September 3rd to Saturday October 29th. Schedule changes will be announced as soon as possible.
Practice & Event Schedule:
NOTE: Practices will be cancelled if the weather conditions are or are predicted to be hazardous. Notice will be emailed as soon as possible and text messages sent to athletes that have given the coach a cell number. The cancellation decision is at the coaches’ discretion. Practices cancelled due to weather will not be rescheduled; cancellation notices will be sent an hour before practice. Due to the coaches’ schedules, dates or times might need to move. If this happens, we will give you as much advance notice as possible. The time and location for each practice will be included in the pre-practice email. As we lose daylight, practice times will be moved up in 15 minute increments. Shirt sizes are available while supplies last.
Pop-up Workouts: There will be 3 or 4 workouts thrown into the schedule for athletes to attend if they are able. These are extra goal-oriented runs.
Sports IQ: Get your head in the game through mental preparation and practice. (Performance enhancement, racing strategies, and injury prevention).
Races: Team members will get some discounts on F&A-owned events. See schedule above.
Full Season: $140 per person includes 8 weeks of training with 2 practices per week.
Full Season + Race Pack: $250 per person includes 8 weeks of training with 2 practices per week AND 4 Fit & Able 5K races.
Step 1: Sign up to be a member of USA Track & Field. USATF membership is required to participate but is a separate registration and fee. You will need the USATF member number that you will receive for the next step. You can register to become a USAT member here: www.usatf.org/membership/application/index.asp.
Step 2: Sign up to be a member of Team Fit & Able’s Trail Blazers Running Team. You can register to become a TBT member here: https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Cary/TrailBlazersRunningTeam.
NOTE: Participants will be required to bring a photo copy of their USATF membership card and a signed USATF waiver to the first practice.
