The Carrboro 10K is the second race in the 17th annual Le Tour de Carrboro race series! And this is our first in-person event after the advent of COVID; please review the COVID protocols we will be using. We will NOT require any of our participants to use a mask on the race course. We will email this protocol out to all registered runners the week prior to the race.
The race starts at 8 a.m. at McDougle Middle School, winds through the neighborhoods of Carrboro, and finishes on the McDougle track.
Since the inception of our Le Tour series, we have donated over $560,000 to local non-profit organizations. Come join us on October 2 and support our 2021 Community Partners!
There is a discounted price if you want to sign up for both the Carrboro 10K and the Gallop & Gorge 8K on Thanksgiving morning. Just follow the registration steps to select this option.
Registration for this year’s race will be ON-LINE ONLY, through RunSignUp, with on-line registration closing at 9pm on Friday, October 1.
Bib pickup will be available at Fleet Feet Sports in Carrboro on Friday, October 1, 10 am - 6:30 pm, and race day morning at McDougle, 6:30-7:45. Race entries are not transferable, i.e., you cannot give your bib number to someone else. You can convert your in-person race to a virtual 10K event by simply submitting your finish time NLT midnight, Sunday, October 3.
Please carpool and arrive early for parking.
There are 3 lots in front of McDougle and a fourth lot behind the school (off of Hillsborough, and the lot to use if you are later than 7:50 am, since Old Fayetteville will be closed). There is additional parking available at Hank Anderson Community Park located off of Highway 54.
Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female winners in the following categories: Open and Masters (40+), 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-55, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.
Open and Masters winners are not eligible for age group awards. The top 3 winners in the Athena and Clydesdale categories will also receive awards.
Standing prize money for course records (male and female) is $50.
Due to our concern for the safety of families and unvaccinated children under 12 years old, we will not hold our traditional “FOR THE KIDS” events in 2021.
We encourage everyone to join us at our events. If you want to walk the course, that's great.
However, if the trailing police car passes you, you must follow normal pedestrian rules -- move to the sidewalk or side of the road.
Our timing service tries to capture the time for everyone who crosses the finish line, so even if the police close the course, you should receive a finish time.
Net proceeds from our races are distributed to our Community Partners. Since the inception of Le Tour de Carrboro in 2005, we have donated over $560,000 to our community!
Our 2021 Community Partners are The Arc of the Triangle, Carrboro Family Garden, Optimist Club of Chapel Hill, Orange County Rape Crisis Center, Table, and UNC Get REAL and HEEL Breast Cancer Program.
Baby strollers/joggers are permitted, but for the safety of all participants please start at the back behind the runners and walkers.
Pets are not allowed on the race course.
