NEW RACE UPDATE.
Shirts for this event were opt-in only and we stopped taking orders on 4/24. So, registration does not include a shirt. We may have more later.
Dates are set for this hybrid event: May 8th to May 23rd.
We are excited to present the 13th running of the Philosopher's Way Trail races. You'll be able to visit the courses beginning Saturday May 8th, ending Sunday May 23rd.
We will mark the 7k and 10 mile courses, and we invite registrants to run their course anytime during park hours (8:00 am to 6:00 pm). We'll provide information on how to upload evidence of your run, and we will do random drawings for prizes (from our amazing sponsors, Bull City Running Company, Open Eye Cafe/Carrboro Coffee Roasters, Neal's Deli, Balanced Movement Studios, The Purple Bowl and Craftboro Brewing Depot) from among all runners who upload their results. In the event of single-track closures, there will be courses marked on the Forest's gravel roads.
During the pandemic, the trails have experienced an estimated 30% increase in activity and as you're out there you'll note considerable armoring and maintenance conducted by the trail angels. This is where your registration fees and donations go and we need your support now more than ever. To date, TrailHeads.org has donated just shy of $60,000 to Carolina North Forest with proceeds from these events. We all look forward to the time we can run together again and staff aid stations and enjoy post race festivities, but for now, please register to help maintain this island of trees between Carrboro and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. There's magic in this Forest!
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, we will ask runners to adhere to the following practices:
1. Runners must provide their own water, sports drink and nutrition. Please bring what you need with you, and please do not leave trash in the Forest or along the trails.
2. If you would like to run the race with others, please limit your group size to no more than five runners. During the run, please keep at least the recommended six feet of distance between your group of runners.
3. Should you encounter other runners or trail users as you begin your run, please space out your start to facilitate distancing once on the trails.
4. Please carry a mask with you during your run. When you encounter other users on the trail and you cannot maintain six feet of social distancing (for instance, when passing a walker or runner on the single track), please wear your mask.
All 2020 registrations will be automatically carried forward to this spring's hybrid event.
