The Sarcoma Stomp, presented by Barings, is the signature fundraiser of the Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research, held in Charlotte since 2011.This family-friendly road race and walk is one of the largest sarcoma events of its kind in the country, known for its great vibe and uplifting spirit! Adults and kids love our scenic, safe neighborhood course and our extensive event site festivities. In addition to fabulous food and drink, participants enjoy great music, face painting, tattoos, roaming characters, corn hole, crafts and other fun activities at this lively event!
Those impacted by sarcoma come from all over the region and country to take part in the Sarcoma Stomp! All sarcoma survivors may use the coupon code 'SURVIVOR' at checkout for complimentary registration for the Sarcoma Stomp as our distinguished guests. Participants say they feel comforted being with other sarcoma families, fellow survivors and people paying tribute to those who have passed. Our participants and teams return year after year - many of them more than 5 years in a row!
Teams are a big part of the spirit of the the Sarcoma Stomp and we've got some new perks for 2020! Teams with 50+ members by Friday, April 17 will get their very own tent space at the Sarcoma Stomp! (You bring your tent and we'll supply a table and some chairs.) Decorate your tent to display your team spirit, hand out your team's race bags, have some munchies, make your own party! Also, teams that have participated in the Sarcoma Stomp for 4 years or more will receive special recognition during our post-race ceremony!
5K Run, 3K Walk, Cheering Crew and Virtual participants may register as part of any existing team or create their own! Our last Sarcoma Stomp had 67 teams, many dressed in their own custom-designed shirts, tiaras, tutus, and funky socks! Some teams were supporting sarcoma survivors, some where remembering loved ones, while others were groups of co-workers or friends. We love teams of any size! Get creative and show your team spirit on race day! Need to design and order custom team shirts? Here's one option to consider where a large percentage of sales are donated to us by the vendor.
WAYS TO PARTICIPATE: 5K Run | 3K Walk | Cheering Crew | Virtual Stomper
Handicapped or in treatment: Our friends at Speed for Need will be honored to push you in a special, custom racing chair! (You friends or family member can be your 'pusher' at the discretion of Speed for Need.) Register for either the 5K Run or 3K Walk (chairs are on an as-available basis, so register and reserve a chair early) and then write us at email@example.com to request a Speed for Need racing chair.
5K Run: A scenic, rolling course through the beautiful neighborhoods of Mammoth Oaks and Lansdowne. Gun goes off at 8:00am!
3K Walk: Perfect for a more casual stroll with family and friends! The walk course will take participants through the Mammoth Oaks neighborhood. 3K starts right after the 5K at 8:00am.
Cheering Crew: Great for those who just want to hang out and support the event! Help make some noise at the finish line, enjoy the refreshments and stroll our fabulous event site!
Virtual Stomper: NEW THIS YEAR: MAKE A $50 DONATION WITH YOUR VIRTUAL REGISTRATION AND WE WILL DEDUCT THE $30 REGISTRATION FEE! Live out of town? Local but just can't make it to the Sarcoma Stomp? Want to assemble your own virtual team where you live, or be a virtual team member of an attending team? Just want to support sarcoma research and get a shirt mailed to your doorstep? Then this option is definitely for you! (Remember, if you will be coming to the Sarcoma Stomp to cheer and support, please register as Cheering Crew, not a Virtual Stomper. Virtual Stompers are those supporters who will not be attending the Sarcoma Stomp.)
Should the Sarcoma Stomp be canceled due to extremely inclement weather or other hazardous conditions, state or city mandates, or widespread concerns for participant health and welfare as expressed by local hospital authorities, we are unable to issue refunds or exchanges. We appreciate your understanding and hope that you remain committed to the event financially in spite of any cancellation. We all love our 4-legged, tail-wagging family members, but we ask that you let them greet you upon your return from our event. Service dogs, therapy dogs, and the like are certainly welcome to attend. Our insurance coverage mandates these restrictions. Thanks for your understanding!
