The April 27th Sarcoma Stomp Run/Walk, presented by Barings, is the signature fundraiser of The Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research, held in Charlotte since 2011. This family-friendly road race and walk event is one of the best, known for its great vibe and uplifting spirit! Adults and kids love our scenic, safe neighborhood course and our extensive event site festivities. We've gone beyond the tasty bananas and lassoed an on-site bread slicing by Great Harvest Bread, pastry samples by Sweet Spot Studio and delicious smoothie samples by Smoothie King! Yum!!! In addition to fabulous food and drink, participants enjoy great music, face painting, tattoos, team mascots, corn hole and other fun activities at this lively event!
Those impacted by sarcoma come from all over the region and country to take part in the Sarcoma Stomp - one of the largest sarcoma walk/runs in the United States! In fact, all sarcoma survivors may use the coupon code 'SURVIVOR' at checkout to attend this event without a fee as our distinguished guests. Participants say they feel comforted by being with many sarcoma families, fellow survivors and others paying tribute to those who have passed. Our participants and teams return year after year - many of them more than 5 years in a row! We had a record 65 teams last year! Need to design and order custom team shirts? Click here for one option to consider.
Monies raised from this fundraiser stay LOCAL, benefiting Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children's clinical trials and other sarcoma research projects. This directly impacts the lives of local patients, while advancing the science of this complex and severely underfunded cancer. Current projects include:

Private funding of research is critical to improving patient outcomes and survival rates. The reality is that there are very few sarcoma organizations in the United States and we are one of the very few that fund the most promising research in any type of sarcoma! So, we hope you will help by participating, donating, fundraising, and volunteering for the Sarcoma Stomp!
The Paula Takacs Foundation, host of the Sarcoma Stomp, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Any donation made to this fundraiser is tax deductible as allowable by law. Our Tax ID is 27-3336677.
5K Run, 3K Walk, Cheering Crew and Virtual participants may register as part of any existing team or create their own! Our last Sarcoma Stomp had 65 teams, many dressed in their own custom-designed shirts, tiaras, tutus, and funky socks! Some teams were supporting sarcoma survivors, some where remembering loved ones, while others were groups of co-workers or friends. We love teams of any size! Get creative and show your team spirit on race day!
We need YOU! Although not mandatory for participation, we hope you will choose to donate and to fundraise to help Levine Cancer Institute develop new sarcoma treatments and advance research! Top fundraisers will receive a special prize during the awards ceremony. You do not have to be a Sarcoma Stomp participant to fundraise. To start a fundraiser, click here.
We could not hold this event without our 80 volunteers each year! Please consider volunteering for a pre-race or race day task of your choosing. You can visit the VOLUNTEER TAB at any time to select from the available opportunities and time slots.
Should the Sarcoma Stomp be canceled due to extremely inclement weather or other hazardous conditions, we are unable to issue refunds or exchanges. We appreciate your understanding. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter so that you'll be on the pulse of all critical/time sensitive race day updates.
We all love our 4-legged, tail-wagging family members, but we ask that you let them greet you upon your return from our event. Of course service dogs, therapy dogs, and the like are certainly welcome to attend. Our insurance coverage mandates these restrictions. Thanks for your understanding!
