COVID-19 - Event Cancellation
Dear Participant,
It is with tremendous regret that we have made the decision to cancel the 8th Annual FootChase 5K & Fun Run for 2020. As you are aware, Governor Cooper has declared a State of Emergency for the State of North Carolina that currently prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people. Governor Cooper has mapped out a plan to open up the state, which includes 3 phases. Looking through the 3 phases of opening up North Carolina, it has become evident to us that the FootChase cannot be run on June 13th, 2020.
As such, we are contacting our runners, our volunteers and our sponsors to inform them of our decision to place the safety of our runners and our volunteers over our desire to hold our 8th annual race. This decision has been a difficult one and one that the RunTimeRaces Team has agonized over. We have tried to come up with creative ways to run the race safely, but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we do not believe that this is possible.
We also realize that our wonderful participants are likely to have been impacted financially as well due to the Pandemic and the economic losses that are associated with the stay-at-home order. We are contacting our participants to ask them what they would like the FootChase to do with their registration fees. There are two ways to proceed going forward. As you know, the FootChase supports three non-profit organizations that work as volunteers at the race, so the first option would be to allow the FootChase to use your 2020 registration fee to give to those non-profit organizations. The remaining option is to ask for a complete refund of your registration fee. We are happy to return the money to you, especially in these difficult financial times.
In a nut-shell, please let us know how you would like to proceed no later than June 13th, 2020 : Donate your 2020 registration fee to the FootChase to distribute to the supported non-profit organizations, OR Request a Refund of your registration fee. Participant decision period closed. All remaining registration fees will be donated to the respective charities, school, and race expenses incurred to this point.

Join us for the 8th Annual FootChase 5K and be part of an awesome race experience. This relatively flat course is fast and has historically served as a great race to set a PR!!! All participants will receive a free tenders meal from PDQ - Hickory by presenting your FootChase 5K bib. This post-race meal will be offered between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on race day.
Benefiting charities: Strong Life Ministries, Catawba County Guardian ad Litem, & Safe Harbor.
1st Place Charity - 50% of net proceeds, 2nd Place Charity - 20% of net proceeds, 3rd Place Charity - 10% of net proceeds. We're also giving 10% of the net proceeds to the local school with the most registered participants, and RunTimeRaces remaining 10%
Phantom Runner
Can't participate and would still like to support our event and get a cool race shirt? Consider being a PHANTOM RUNNER (No participation required, shirts may be picked up at Packet Pick up or on-site Race Day.
Early Registration through 11:59 pm on Tuesday, June 2nd includes a FREE RACE TEE. Race Day Registration opens from 7:15 am - 8:15 am pm Race Day (NO Race Tee with LATE or Race Day Registration).

Given to the top 3 male & female finishers, and top Overall Masters & Grand Masteres male and female. Awards will go to the top 3 male and female 5K finishers in the following age groups:

Strong Life Ministires
When you think of a “strong life”, what comes to mind? For Pastor John Hays it’s about having the courage to keep on trying, even when life deals bitter blows. Hays is currently working to develop Strong Life Ministries whose “mission, duty, and purpose is to address, educate, coordinate, and provide aid and relief to those in poverty and homelessness.”
Strong Life Ministries works to offer a men’s transitional housing program to provide an opportunity for those who have been oppressed by poverty to learn to live independently. This live-in program will focus on the participant’s spiritual walk, employment, financial planning and long term goals.
Catawba County Guardian ad Litem
Be A Voice for A Child...
When a child is hurt by those who are supposed to protect them, GAL volunteers stand up to ensure the child's voice is heard.
You can help a child who is involved in a court proceeding as a victim of abuse or neglect by becoming a Guardian ad Litem (GAL). The GAL Program needs volunteers to represent the best interest of children in the court system. The qualifications are that you be of good moral character and care about children. The requirements are that you attend training, observe in court and promise to keep what you learn about the children confidential.
