The Glass Jug Beer Lab and Bull City Running Co. are proud to present the 2nd annual Bull City Beer Mile on Saturday, April 29rd, 2023 in Downtown Durham's Central Park.
What is a beer mile? A 1-mile drinking race combining running and speed drinking. Typically, the race takes place on a 1/4-mile running track (flat). We will be running around Central Park (not flat!). The race begins with the consumption of a 12-oz beer (special Bull City Beer Mile beer brewed by Glass Jug Beer Lab), followed by a 1/4 mile lap around the park. The second lap continues in a similar manner; another 12-oz beer is consumed before commencing the running of the second lap. This process is repeated for the next two laps. Following the completion of the fourth running lap (and four beers), you are finished with the race!
Competitors must be 21 years old or older. Additionally, there are 2-person and 4-person relay competition options!
Race entry fee includes 4x12oz beers from Glass Jug Beer Lab, a custom Bull City Beer Mile 20-ounce beer glass, and Bull City Beer Mile medals that double as bottle openers for the overall winners. There will be a DJ and live music in Central Park during the race, plus food trucks on site. Runners and spectators are encouraged to hang out in the park to cheer on the runners and enjoy a beer of their own during the race. The after-party will continue in the park until 8:00pm with The Glass Jug remaining open until 12:00am.
Parking will be available at the Durham Center Parking Garage at the corner of Foster and W Morgan St., as well as at the Farmer's Market lot on Morris Street.
Please drink and run responsibly!
