Martin Horn is an attorney and long term Durham resident.  On August 31, 2017 he was in a tragic surfing accident at Carolina Beach, NC.  He broke his C3 thru T3 vertebrae and is paralyzed from the chest down.  He is currently using a trach and recently went off the ventilator.   Rehab, transportation and other medical costs will exceed a million dollars his first year alone.  He has 3 wonderful children (Samantha, Pearce, & Zoey) , two of which he is the primary provider for.  His eldest daughter Samantha is now acting as her father primary caregiver/guardian.  She was in her last semester at NCSU, but has now deferred to care for him.  We are hosting a Holiday Family 5k Fun Run in hopes to help offset some of these mounting expenses.    

There will be awards for the Top Adult & Child Male Finisher and Top Adult & Child Female Finisher. 

The run will begin at 8:00 am at Woodcroft Swim & Tennis Club, and with a loop course through the trails of Woodcroft Neighborhood will end there as well (there will be a max finish time of 120 minutes).  

Please come out and support this worthy cause and have some fun with your family!  You can even dress up in holiday spirit wear!
