What does a virtual event look like?
The 2020 Run 4 the Greenway Virtual Challenge consists of a 4 mile run and 1 mile walk/run that you can run on your own schedule between October 17-31 and submit your results and photos and tag us at #Run4Greenway. Participants can complete either distance anytime/anywhere during Oct 17-31. We will provide a suggested route along the greenway that would LOVE for our participants to do so you can see and use our wonderful greenway, but you do not have to do this route. Participants can choose their own route - all times submitted, no matter what route you complete, will be eligible for prizes. If you use the RaceJoy app (instructions further down the page), then the app will track your distance and automatically submit your time once the distance is complete. You can also submit results directly on the website by clicking on RESULTS on the top menu bar and then "Submit Virtual Results." If you opt in for texting, you can text your results when you finish.
The benefit of the RaceJoy app, besides automatic distance tracking and results submission, is you will be able to get fun alerts along the way that will really enhance the virtual experience. Grab the family, your running group, or do it on your own! There will also be a family-friendly scavenger hunt that you can do on the Downtown Greenway and throughout downtown to win prizes—learn about public art and neighborhood history along the Downtown Greenway.
We will have a Pop-up Packet Pick-Up on Saturday, October 17 from 1-5pm in LoFi Park (500 N. Eugene St)—stop by to pick up the race route and Run 4 the Greenway Neck Gaiter. Participants will have an option to purchase a run shirt this year which can also be picked up on October 17th. Swag will be mailed to participants who cannot stop by the pop-up packet pick-up. All participants will receive a neck gaiter, coupons, and swag from First Bank. If you added a shirt during registration, you will also be able to pick that up as well.
We will have a closing virtual event on Sunday, November 1 from 4-5pm. Join us virtually on Facebook with live music, runner prizes from local downtown businesses and sponsors and Downtown Greenway trivia! Details will be emailed to challenge participants.
Participants will have the option to purchase a #Run4Greenway event shirt during registration. The deadline to add a shirt is October 1.
Prizes will be awarded on November 1 for Best Overall Time, Best Costume, Cutest Dog, and many other awards. Prizes from local businesses. Each registered participant will receive a Downtown Greenway neck gaiter at the packet pick-up. Those who cannot attend will receive their packet by mail.
