Sunday June 28th
Due to the uncertainty of the current situation in North Carolina regarding COVID 19, as well as the knock on effects and concerns in hosting a 1000 participant event, we have to share the sad news that there will not be a Historic Hillsborough Half Marathon or 5K this year. As runners ourselves, we understand the deep disappointment this will cause to our participants.
All currently registered participants in the Half Marathon and 5K will be contacted via email in the coming few days. Participants can request a deferral to the 2021 5th Anniversary event, scheduled for Sunday October 3rd, or a refund.

Hillsborough, North Carolina is no ordinary small, southern town. Its scenic beauty and graceful architecture spanning three centuries, provide an incredible location for a road race. Hillsborough continues to host numerous successful races, including the Little River Trail runs, Got GRIT 5K race, and the Camp Chestnut Ridge Trail races. It has however, been many years since Hillsborough has hosted a longer distance race.
Mack Orthodontics and Hillsborough Running Club are very pleased to present the 5th Annual Historic Hillsborough Half Marathon and 5K road races. Both the half marathon and 5K routes have been designed to showcase many of Hillsborough’s historic sites, and scenic routes.
Each year the event logo/medal show one of the fabulous views around Hillsborough. In 2016, the Old Courthouse, in 2017 the Occoneechee Speedway track, in 2018 the scenic Riverwalk, in 2019 the Eno River Farmers Market Pavilion. 2020 logo to be announced.
