Farm City Week 5K Trail Day

Celebrate Agriculture in Person County and Support 4-H Youth Programming!

Farm City Week is the annual celebration of Person County's rich agricultural past, present, and future.

Close out the week with a run or walk through autumn woods and pasture trails on a spacious, family-owned 63-acre farm. Two laps will take you through old-growth forest, along the stream, past a variety of classic North Carolina Piedmont tobacco barns, around the pond, and aross the finish line in front of the goat pen.

Bring your cheering section to check out the Person County Farmers Market pop-up and stay for a farm-to-table picnic brunch (additional fee).

Hang by the bonfire with your cheering section and make new connections while you take in the views. 

• Gate opens 8am, Race starts at 9am
• All-ages and experience levels are welcome (Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
• Rain or shine, except for extreme rain or wind (event organizers will notify registrants via email by 5pm November 13)
• Event photographer on-site
• Trails will be open to all visitors to explore following the race
• Pop-up Farmers Market & locally sourced and prepared food available on-site

This is the second public race hosted by The Land at Hawkins Loop. Other annual events include Hawkins Loop Bird Fest, NC Science Festival nights, foraged wreathmaking, and a variety of science, nature, art, and community events throughout the year.

Support 4-H Youth Programming in Person County!

20% of proceeds will be donated to the Person County 4-H program. 4-H is the youth development outreach of the Land Grant Universities, Cooperative Extension, and USDA. It is made up of a community of young people learning life skills who are supported in this developmental process by caring adult leaders. 4-H'ers are actively involved in educational projects that are fun and that use quality curriculum incorporating the most current research and knowledge available through the Land Grand University System.

About the Property

The Land at Hawkins Loop is located less than 30 minutes from Durham, Hillsborough, and Roxboro in beautiful Person County, North Carolina. Gently sloping pastures are dotted with modernized, century-old farmhouses and salvaged tobacco barns. 

The venue's fields and old growth forest are heavily populated by a wide range of birds, wildlife, and plants supported by an on-staff Certified Master Gardener. Trails provide guests easy access for walking, biking, and observation areas with seating.
