Description
In 1998, after the death of a local school teacher, several leaders in our community came to the realization that there was nowhere for domestic violence victims to turn to in Kernersville. They recognized that there were people in our own area who didn’t have a safe place to rest their head. With that in mind, Next Step Ministries was created. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization with the mission of providing refuge, advocacy and education to survivors of domestic violence and the broader community.
In 2021, Next Step provided services for 75 sheltered clients, 94 non-residential clients, and provided crisis intervention services for 1,891 individuals that called our 24/7 Crisis Hot Line which was an increase of 400 calls from the previous year. Of those 169 clients served, 76 were Kernersville residents.
