CAN YOU IMAGINE A 4-YEAR-OLD GOING TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT or SOCIAL SERVICES TO TELL THE STORY OF HOW THEY WERE MOLESTED OR SEVERELY PHYSICALLY ABUSED?
In Lenoir, North Carolina, Robin’s Nest Child Advocacy Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization where child victims go to tell their story of abuse in a warm, caring, nurturing, child-friendly environment. Robin’s Nest provides one centralized location for survivors and their family to receive services and treatment. Comprehensive on-site services to the children and families include: (1) forensic interviews, (2) forensic medical evaluations, (3) child advocate services, (4) mental health counseling, and (5) community education and awareness about child abuse.
All services, in one child focused setting, decreases the effects of trauma experienced by the child survivors, increases the likelihood of healing from the abuse and improves the likelihood of successful prosecution in court cases. Overall, Robin’s Nest enhances protective services of children and reduces re-victimization through education and empowerment.
Come out and participate in the Run for Hope 5k in Downtown Lenoir--all proceeds will benefit Robin's Nest and help fight child abuse in our community! The course will be rolling enclosure and fully supported with aid stations and volunteers.
