Hauling for Hunger 5K/10K & 1 Mile

Join us on November 23rd at Catawba Meadows Park for the 2nd annual Hauling for Hunger 5K & 1 Miler.  This year we're adding a 10K distance as well!  The event is a community event with a food drive to benefit Burke United Christian Ministries (BUCM).  Participants are asked to bring one or more canned food items to be collected at the race and donated to BUMC at the conclusion of the races. 

Race Options and Start Times:

5K and 10K start at 9:00 a.m.

1 Mile Fun Run & 1 Mile Youth Competitive Run begin at 10:00 a.m.

Virtual Participant - Complete the distance of your choice where ever you are and have your race swag mailed to you!

Race Course: 

The 1 Mile route will follow the Catawba Meadows Greenway going in the direction of the Rocky Ford Access point and will be an out and back race.  The 5K and 10K routes will follow the Greenway traveling in the direction of the River Village Access point.  5K athletes will turn around just past the bridge near the soccer complex at the 1.55 mile mark and 10K athletes will turn around at the Freedom Park Access Point, travel back towards Catawba Meadows Park, pass the finish arch to cover the extra distance before turning around towards the finish line. There will be an aid station on the 5K/10K course.

Registration Costs:

5K & 10K Early Registration Cost: $25

1 Mile Early Registration Cost: $15

Virtual Participant Cost: $20

The price increases $5 for each contest distance as of November 4th for the remainder of the online registration period and for on-site registrations.  Online registration closes November 19th at 11:59 p.m..  On-site registration will be available ($30 for the 5K & 10K distances and $20 for the 1 Mile distance) during packet pick-up on November 21st and on race morning. 

Other Race Information:

All registered 5K and 10K finishers receive a finisher's medal and 1 Mile finishers receive a finisher's ribbon.  All participants registered by Nov. 10th will receive a drawstring cinch bag imprinted with the race logo.  Participants who register in advance by the deadline the will be guaranteed the race logo item; participants who register after the deadline or on-site will receive the race logo item as quantities are available.  Virtual Participants who register by the cut-off will receive a race medal and race logo item, which will be mailed to them within a week prior to or following the race.

Prizes and Recognition:

In addition to finishers' medals, Overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place males and females will receive a prize.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place recognition will also be given in the following age categories for the 5K and 10K:

13 years old and younger                        40-49 years old

14-19 years old                                        50-59 years old

20-29 years old                                        60-69 years old

30-39 years old                                        70 years old and wiser

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place recognition will also be given in the following age categories for the 1 Mile Youth Competitive Run:

5 years old and younger                 6-10 years old                11-14 years old

A prize will also be given for best race themed costume present on race day!
