Description

Event:  Rowan County High School Runners 5K Trail Race for United Way (Rowan County High School students only)  

Salisbury-Rowan Runners are timing and managing the event.

Cost: $5 registration fee, but all donations for Rowan County United Way are encouraged.

$5 registration fee must be paid on-line for registration.   Donations can be made online during registration at RunSignUp or in the form of cash or check to Rowan County United Way and sealed in an envelope. To ensure minimal contact, there will be a drop box at race bib pickup set aside for donations to be placed.

Time: (Following Covid-19 NC guidelines races will be in waves - no more than 35 runners per wave following updated NC Covid guidelines as of 9/4/20)

The races will be divided into 2 waves as well as gender to properly social distance. 

Boys Heat - 8:00am Start

Girls Heat - 8:10am Start

Course Information:

Be advised that the course will have wet spots. There is no pavement, but there are a few places that have packed gravel. Most of the course is dirt or grass. Please choose your shoes appropriately.  The course will be a two-loop course of 1.55 miles per loop with a different start and finish area.  Spectators can see the runners multiple times during the race. 

Runners should not approach the start line until called 15 seconds before the race start time.  This is to ensure a short time on the line.  For the finish, there will be a long chute and runners should not congregate at the finish.  When finished, head to your cool down area.  

COVID-19 Safety Precautions: (Following Covid-19 NC guidelines)

-       Runners need to make sure to keep distance during the start and finish and when passing other runners as well.  

-       Please do not congregate at the start and finish.  

-       All participants and volunteers are expected to strictly follow to social distancing rules, keeping at least 6 feet of distance from other people other than members of their family.

-       Masks should be worn when not running if you are unable to maintain at least 6 feet of social distance before or after your race.  Do not run with a mask on.  

-       Spectators are to maintain social distance when not with your group, wear masks when within 6 feet of others and adhere to the Patterson Farm COVID guidelines.   

-       If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, have a pending COVID test or positive test in the last 14 days, have experienced symptoms related to COVID-19 (sore throat, fever, lost of taste/smell, shortness of breath) or are in quarantine for COVID-19 then you CANNOT ATTEND OR RUN IN THE RACE.

-       Registration will max out at 50 boys and 50 girls.

-       Food and drinks will NOT be provided; therefore, runners should bring their own.

-       Registration will only be available online ONLY from August 20th to September 4th at 9pm  (NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION).

Other Information:

-       This event is not in collaboration with NC High School Athletics and is not a school related event.  Runners CANNOT wear school jerseys to race and will not be allowed to race if they approach the starting line with school uniforms/jerseys.
