The Barley Chase is a USATF Certified 5k/10k race located in Newport, NC. Race day is Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 9:00 am. The race starts and ends at Shortway Brewing Co. and meanders through the heart of Newport. Participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, and wristband which includes complimentary post-run pints at the after party!! ***All participants subject to ID check.*** ***T-Shirt size is not guaranteed for registrations after 8/31.*** Awards will be given to overall top 3 males & females and the top 2 in each age division for both males and females. Age Divisions are 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & above. Water stations will be set up at the halfway points of each course.
Packet pickup will take place Saturday, October 14th 2-5 PM at Shortway Brewing Co. or you can pick up the morning of the race starting at 8:00am at the registration table located behind the brewery on Haskett St.
Online registration will close at 11:59 PM on Friday, October 13th or when the race sells out.
*Early Bird Pricing runs through June 30th, after which prices increase by $10*
This race is be held annually in conjunction with Shortway Brewing Company's anniversary party and will benefit nonprofit 501(c)(3), Bread & Barley. Bread & Barley is church that runs on volunteers and has no building expenses, therefore, all proceeds will be used to meet needs right here in our local community.
