Gateway 5K &10K Trail Races

Come spend your morning in the mountains with us!  Old Fort, NC is the Gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Camp Grier is a scenic venue with fun and challenging trails nestled at the base of these ancient peaks.  Enjoy views of the lake, creeks, and mountains along the course.  Post race brunch and bloody maryswill be served buffet style.  This is a great way to spend a late-summer day in the mountains, only 30 minutes from Asheville, 40 minutes from Hickory and 90 minutes from Charlotte. This race is supported by Relentless Running Events and Mountain Running Company.

5K Course

The 5K Course is rolling terrain, mostly gravel road and double-track trail. The course has a few challenging hills, but is very manageable even for beginners. Runners will have views of mossy creeks, green horse pasture, and a scenic lake. This race would be a great introduction to trail running. 

10K Course

This is a challenging route featuring technical single-track trails and a killer climb! The terrain varies from gravel road to rocky trail.  This route is gorgeous but will test your endurance. 

Post Race Brunch

We will provide a buffet style brunch post-race including foods like fruit, sweets, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, potatoes, etc as well as all the fixins for bloody marys.  Hot coffee from Victoire Coffee will be served throughout the event.  Race entry fee includes brunch, additional brunch meals are available for purchase, kids under 10 eat free. 

Awards

Awards will be presented for the top 3 male and female runners in each race. These unique awards are hand carved by local artist Sam Moore.  All participants will receive a race t shirt.

Cancelation Policy

All registered persons can cancel their registration by August 31, 2022 and will be given a full refund.  After September 1, refunds and deferrals will not be granted.  Transfers of entries will be accommodated prior to October 15, 2022.
