Description

Due to Covid-19 and different restrictions on gathering, the 2020 Reindeer Run is switching to a virtual format. We will be marking courses at multiple Chatham County Parks as well as Central Carolina Community College. These locations will be available for you to go and run your 5k using the running app Strava to record your time. You are also able to run at any place of your choosing but be sure to monitor your distance to make sure you do not finish short of a 5k or go over the required distance.

Once you have completed your 5k and want to submit that as your official time, you can enter it into the Reindeer Run group we will have set up. Any awards and prizes will be distributed based on these submitted times.

Awards will be given in the following categories:  Individual Overall, Individual age groups, and Teams.

Just like every other year of the Reindeer Run, you can participate in the 5K as an Individual or Team. We have added a new category this year for School Teams. This is reserved for groups from our local schools. Parents can register with their child(ren) in this group.

Teams consist of 5 persons or more. Team time will consist of the fastest three times on the Team added together.

Rudolph's Family Fun Run is a new addition for 2020! We are encouraging families to get out and be active. Our goal is to get Rudolph back to the North Pole! The North Pole is 6038km (3752mi) miles from Pittsboro, NC. Working together as one big team, kids will log their miles during the week of the race (Dec 4 @5pm - December 12 @ 5pm) to "Run Rudolph Home". So parents, register yourself for the 5k and bring your kids along for your training runs to build up those miles!

TEAMS: You can register all your members at once (with one credit card) or one by one (with separate credit cards). To set up your team, select Teams on the left and then Register & Create a Team. For your first Registrant, click “Team 5K” as your event. Then click the red “Team” button and create a Team name. From there, either complete your registration for your first member, or choose Add Another Registrant to register more team members. For team members registering separately after the Team has been created: Choose “Team 5K” as your event. To the right of the Team 5K event, click the “Team” button to search for your Team’s name.

***If you are a School Team, be sure to register for THAT event, not the regular Team registration.

For ease of registration we are encouraging people to use our online system. Paper registration forms are available at: http://chathamkids.org/reindeer-run There may be some short delays in getting paper registrations entered into our system but is still an acceptable way to register.

Shirts are guaranteed only to participants who register by 11/20/20. Shirt sizes cannot be exchanged or changed after this date.

Packets are provided for 5K (Individual, Team and School Team) runners only. Rudolph’s Family Fun Run participants can pick up their race shirt at this time as well.

Teams: Please be prepared to pick up packets for your whole team at one time. We highly encourage teams to pick up packets during early packet pickup.

There will be no race day registration this year and packet pick up will only be available at Central Carolina Community College on December 12th. Hours TBD.
