Laps For Sidney at Hinson Lake

I met the Povish Family in 2008 when Sue called and asked Vac & Dash to time the Scarecrow 5K Run in West End, NC.  The race, was a fundraiser for the PTO at West End Elementary School.  Sue was organizing the race and Brian was helping her.  Sidney, their daughter, was a student at West End Elementary. 

The Scarecrow 5K was a huge success and Brian caught the running bug.  Throughout the years, the Povich family has been a fixture at running events throughout the Carolinas. Brian has been a wonderful friend to so many in the running community, running as a pacer in so many races.

Sidney is now 16-years old and is a cheerleader at Pinecrest High School.   On November 30th, it was discovered that Sidney had (B-All) Luekemia.   Sidney is a fighter and will do what it takes to beat this.  She started chemo treatments in early December.

Running friends and family are hosting a run/walk on Sunday January 21st from noon to 4:00 pm at Hinson Lake in Rockingham, NC    The price will be $25 and that will include food that will be catered for the event.

Please join us to help raise money for this fantastic family in their time of need. If you can't make it, a virtual option will be available as well. The run starts at noon. If you can't make it by noon, come on down when you can, as you can start anytime.

This run is all about helping out the Povish Family in their time of need.  We will not time the event, count laps or give out t-shirts and awards.  Instead, Vac & Dash is donating Laps for Sidney t-shirts, hats, towels and other items to be given away as door prizes on the 21st.
