Description

THE RACE:  The Four Mile will start and finish at The Rocky Mount Brew Mill, and take runners on a scenic view of Rocky Mount's Battle Park.  This park runs parallel to the Tar River, and shortly before the halfway point, crosses the river over what was once the longest wooden suspension bridge in the US.  ?The 1.5 Mile Fun Run and Walk will start with the Four Mile race and will turn around shortly after entering the park.  This shorter distance is perfect for young participants, or participants who require walking.

THE AWARDS: All participants recieve a Mill Chill race shirt, a customized race number, and a commemorative glass. In addition, participants in the 4-Mile race are elligible for awards in the follow age groups:  Under 14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

BREWERY THROWDOWN:  The Mill Chill is adding an exciting fun twist to our race called the “Brewery Throwdown”. We have five local craft brewers that have accepted the challenge of finding out which brewery is the fastest on foot. To do this they are recruiting friends, customers, and employees to run on their team in the Mill Chill 4-Mile race.   When you register to run you will have the option to pick a team, or simply let us put you on a team. Your performance on race day just might be what it takes to earn the championship trophy for a local brewery! The top five men and top five women on each brewery team will earn points. The team with the lowest point total wins the trophy and bragging rights for the next year!

LIVE MUSIC:  Following the race runners and guest will be entertained with live music from Matty Begs. Music will begin at 2:00 pm and continues until 5:00 pm. All registered runners have free access to our post race celebration. Guest can come for free, or become a supporter. For only $18 you will receive an event shirt, a commemorative tasting glass, and two craft beer samples. Sorry. . . must be 21 to get the beer!

FOOD TRUCKS:  Having our event on a cool December afternoon means we are serving up something fresh, scratch made, hearty, and delicious. We are thrilled to have two of the top food trucks in North Carolina serving up local goodness for everyone!  The Wandering Moose truck is the #4 rated Raleigh truck according to Yelp reviews. The "Moose" will be serving slow cooked meats, scratch-made sauces, hot soups and fresh sides. The CockADoodleMoo truck is the #5 rated Raleigh truck. Their focus is Traditional and Global BBQ along with Gourmet Sandwiches featuring fresh, all natural and local ingredients.

CRAFT BEER: All registered participants will recieve a commemorative glass from our race. Those of age will receive two complimentary pours from one of our participating breweries. Additional beers may be pruchased at the Rocky Mount Mills and enjoyed responsibly after the race.  Participating breweries are:  Koi Pond, Sweet Taters, Trophy Brewing, Bombshell, and Tarboro Brewing.

BENEFITING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS:  All proceeds from our race will be donated directly to the Greater Carolina Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. We also will request all sponsors to make their contribution directly to the charity rather than giving through our race. We are not affiliated with the National MS Society, but have a peronsal connection with the cause.
