OBX Turkey Trot 5K & Fun Run

We are so excited to bring back an awesome Outer Banks tradition in the Town of Southern Shores!  Show your thanks this Thanksgiving by running as a family in the 14th annual OBX Turkey Trot. Thanksgiving morning is a perfect time to be surrounded by family and friends in the beautiful town of Southern Shores. Lace up your sneakers and come on out to run or walk with us!  We have pancakes for all participants, one of a kind raffles and the first place male and female will take home our amazing Thanksgiving Pies specially made for your thanksgiving meal!

The OBX Turkey Trot is a 5k and children’s fun run to support the non-profit organization, OBX GO FAR (Go Out For A Run). OGF is a non-profit children’s program designed to fight childhood obesity by educating children on healthy habits and positive character traits all while training for a 5K or Fun Run.  Your support in our fundraiser event would help us scholarship more children into the program. This year marks our 14th Anniversary of OBX GO FAR and your support has touched the lives of over 10,000 participants in our program!

This is a family fun event, if you want to know your time wear a watch or make sure you look at the clock at the finish line! Parents are encouraged to come out and run with their children.

*** Online registration is now open for 5K for $40 and 1 Mile Fun Run for $25. Each registered participant will receive our awesome, one-of-a-kind Turkey Trot T-shirt during the qualifying registration period (9/21- 10/31). T-shirts are SOLD OUT, registration is still available 

Late Registration Info

If spots are still available, on-site registration will be available (t-shirts will not be guaranteed at on-site registration) at Packet Pick-up Wednesday, November 22 from 3:00 pm – 5:30pm. Race Day Registration is on November 24th. It is open from 7:30 am – 8:30 am. RACE BEGINS AT 9:00AM!

Parking Info

It will be available at the Southern Shores town hall or at the Southern Shores Crossing shopping center off of HWY 12 on Ocean Boulevard. Please do not park in the Goodwill shopping center located behind town hall.
The 5k will start and finish at the town hall of Southern Shores. This is not a timed event; it is a family fun event. Please wear a watch and observe the race clock to keep track of your time.

Children’s Fun Run Info
During the qualifying registration period, we will be including Youth-size shirts for the FUN RUN, which is tailored for children 12 and under. This 1-mile run is scheduled to kick off around 10 am, immediately following the OBX TURKEY TROT.

Packet Pickup Info

Wednesday, November 22, 2-5:30 pm at the Town of Southern Shores Town Hall. Located at 5375 N. Virginia Dare Trail at the turn off toward Duck. Next door to Goodwill.

Race Course
Race Start is behind the Town of Southern Shores complex located at 5375 N. Virginia Dare Trail at the turn-off toward Duck. Next door to Goodwill. This is a point-to-point race with the Race finishing at Southern Shores Crossing Shopping Center. 

The Fun Run will begin at the Southern Shores Crossing and will be a down-and-back run.
