Join us Sunday Afternoon (2pm) October 8, 2023 for the Flying Feathers 5K + Spirit Run
Times: 1:30 pm Spirit Run kicks off (non timed event open to all, 1/4 mile lap)
2:00 pm Flying Feathers 5K kicks off (Timed and Non Timed Divisions Available)

This race is sponsored by the Fairview School PTA. 100% of the proceeds raised will directly benefit Fairview School.
Course description:
The Spirit Run will be a short lap around Fairview Elementary School.
The 5K will be a loop around the Fairview Elementary School and Smoky Mountain High School campuses. This will include running on pavement, grass, and dirt.
Pricing for all you runners. Don't delay as the price jumps up!
5K Adults: $25 until Sept. 7th , $30 between Sept. 8th -Oct. 6th , $35 race day
5K Children (ages 1-17): $20 until Sept. 7th , $25 between Sept. 8th -Oct. 6th , $30 race day
Deadline for guaranteed T-Shirt for 5K Runners is Sept. 10th, 2023. Shirt sizes offered: Youth S-L, Adult S-3XL
Packet pickup will take place October 6, 2023 from 12:00-4:00 p.m.
Race Day Packet pick up will take place October 8, 2023 between 12:30-1:30 p.m.

5k Course Map
RACE COURSE DIRECTIONS (note that there will be signage and volunteers to ensure clarity)
1. Begin in front of the roundabout at the main entrance to Fairview School.
2. Run down Big Orange way (toward Smoky Mountain HS) and take a right into the parking lot outside of the Fairview Kindergarten building.
3. Snake through the parking lot as indicated in the first photo, and then turn right between the pre-K / K playground and pre-K / Kindergarten building.
4. Turn right so that the Fairview blacktop is on the left and the Fariview buildings are on your right.
5. Run down until you dead end with the middle school building on your right. Turn right and go around the side of the middle school building.
6. Take a lap around the outdoor basketball court, then go back the way you came, with the middle school building now on your left.
7. Run down past the Fairview black top and Fairview bus parking lot, then head straight into the Smoky Mountain High School campus on Cliffside drive.
8. Continue on Cliffside drive, passing Smoky Mountain HS buildings and a practice field on your left. Just before Jones street on the right, turn around and go back the way you came, now with the SMHS practice field and buildings on your right.
9. When you come to the end of Cliffside drive, turn right on Big Orange way, as though you were headed down to the football stadium.
10. Turn right on Alexander street, and run a loop around this street, exiting by turning right back onto Big Orange way.
11. Turn right again into the football stadium, and take a lap around the track.
12. Exiting the track around the football field, take a right, then quickly turn left to enter the baseball fields parking lot.
13. Run through the baseball parking lot, then turn left just past the first (largest) field. Take a lap around the perimeter of the baseball field.
14. Exiting the baseball field, turn left.
15. Turn right past the second baseball field, and continue running straight until you pass the third baseball field on your right.
16. Passing the third field on your right, turn right and loop back around the fields on the other side, so that the fields are now on your right.
17. Run straight through the baseball fields parking lot and turn right on Big Orange way, heading uphill back to Fairview School.
18. At the top of the hill, turn right to go though the Fairview Bus Lot again. Run straight keeping the blacktop and the Fairview buildings on your right.
19. At the middle school building, turn right as you did earlier to bring you to the outdoor basketball court.
20. Run straight through the basketball court, and make a left, snaking yoru way past C and B pods on your right.
21. Finishing the turn around B pod, you'll be in the small parking lot by the fomer Pre-K trailer. Turn right, keeping the elementary school playground on your left. Run straight through the start/finish line in front of the roundabout at the main entrance.
