Description
The BASF Smile Train Triathlon is the only triathlon in the world that benefits Smile Train - the world's largest cleft lip and palate charity.
What makes this race special? We send 100% of the athlete registration fees to Smile Train. Since 2008, we've generated over $220,000 in donations our Smile Train!
The course is a 250m pool swim, a relatively flat 12-mile bike course (out-and-back), followed by an out-and-back 5K. For the experienced triathlete, this is a great race to work on your transitions, hammer the bike, then test your stamina on the run. The pool swim won't tax your system, but with our time-trial entry you can be seeded with comparable swimmers.
We are very friendly to new triathletes by allowing them to put in a 99:99 swim time which will place them at the back of the swim. The pool only has one direction of traffic in each lane so there is plenty of room to pass and get passed. The bike course has minimal hills and is supported by Wake Forest and Rolesville PD and volunteers at every turn. The run course provides 3 chances for water and sports drink along the 5K course.
