The Chick-Fil-A 5k is a charity race hosted by the Heritage Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy. Each year we work with a new organization, offering our support to community organizations that help our Wake County community. Offering activities for people of all ages, from the race to zumba and even the countless free kids games constantly running on the field there is definitely something that will suit everyone. One hundred percent of race fees and fundraiser funds go to the years beneficiary. Scroll down to read about 2019's beneficiary: Hope House
We started in September 2011 as a vision of Dr. Enoch and Minister Marion Holloway for the Wake Forest Community as a place of hope and assistance to the children in our area.
Our first year we started as we meant to go with:
Community Fun Day – having fun games, giving away clothes and food. We now have two community fun days a year.
Our first Children’s Christmas Giveaway was for parents and children who were a part of the Wake Forest community we were serving. We now organize a yearly Angel Tree for more than 300 children from Wake County and the surrounding counties.
In 2012 we had our first Book Bag Giveaway, we gave away 75 book bags filled with school supplies and about 30 bags of school supplies alone. In 2017 we gave away 220 book bags filled with school supplies.
Tutoring at Hope House – started with Tuesday Homework assistance at of a few children. We now have 25 registered children and we are using the THANKS program as our guide (Tutoring, Homework Assistance, Networking, & Key Skills). This allows us to expand our goal of helping children to improve their life skills, educationally, socially and spiritually.
Our Thursday food giveaway, started as giving away bread and deserts donated by BJ’s of Raleigh and has grown into our working with the Central Food Bank of North Carolina to bring fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, deserts and other food items for our communities.
