Please join us for the running of the Renee Pickard Memorial Kids on the Run 5K in Wilkesboro on August 10th, 2024 at 8AM.
Renee, a longtime resident and friend to many in Wilkesboro, passed away unexpectedly while competing in the Grand Circle Trailfest, a tough 3-day trail running event that took place in Kanab, Utah in 2021. In memory of Renee's passion and dedication to running, wellness, and coaching youth athletes, we are combining our 15th season of Kids on the Run with our 3rd year of the Renee Pickard Memorial Run.
We have no doubt this combination will honor Renee in spirit, mind, and body.
All proceeds from the Renee Pickard Memorial Kids on the Run 5K will benefit children participating in the Kids on the Run 5K training program held each summer. Registration for this race will not only benefit you in health but fill your cup in spirit witnessing the hard work these youth athletes put in throughout the summer come together as they cross the finish line!

IMPORTANT RACE UPDATE
To all Renee Pickard Memorial 4.5 Mile Race Participants
Thank you for registering for the Renee Pickard Memorial Kids on the Run 5k! We have no doubt she will be shining down on us, cheering us on! A few things to keep in mind as race day approaches:
- Packet Pickup will begin at 6:30AM at Wilkes Family YMCA pavilion.
- T-shirts available to the first 150 registrants
- The race begins at the Greenway access from the Wilkes Family YMCA Pavilion. Parking is available along Industrial Drive and the back YMCA parking lot.
- Finish line celebration begins as the first runner crosses the line! All spectators and runners are invited to join the fun!
- One water station will be available at the halfway mark.
- Bathrooms will be available at the finish line.
This course is a scenic out and back that runners and walkers of all ages and all levels can be successful at. Take time to breathe in the fresh air, while taking in the beautiful views. A combination we know will honor Renee in spirit, mind, and body.
