Run For Carly Rae 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

Saturday, October 26, 2024

THE RACE

The Run for Carly Rae 5K Run & 1 Mile Run/Walk was established to honor the life of Carly Rae Baron, who tragically lost her life to gun violence in 2020. Carly Rae was a beautiful person, who enjoyed basketball, modeling and spending time with her family and friends.
Carly Rae Baron was a graduate of Eugene Ashley High School and at the time of her passing was a student at UNCW. The Baron Family and the Alex Highsmith Family Foundation wanted to create a scholarship that would help keep Carly's memory alive and also honor who she was. The scholarship program began in the 2022-2023 school year. In May of 2023 they awarded $13,000 in scholarship money to graduating NHCS students.

THE CAUSE

At the Baron & Jedrey Foundation, our top priority is to help people in need. The Baron Jedrey Foundation proudly funds the Carly Rae Memorial Scholarship given annually to a student at Ashley High School where Carly attended. The Baron Jedrey Foundation also raises money to help cancer patients struggling to pay their medical bills.

Proceeds from the event fund academic scholarships to seniors in New Hanover County Schools. The Run for Carly Rae 5K race will also help raise awareness of the need to end gun violence in our community.
