Do you want to get healthy with a simple real-world program based on eating “clean” foods and
doing a daily exercise plan? Do you want to get leaner, stronger, faster but you are not an
athlete? Are you more motivated to make a change by a group challenge? Does earning a
Challenge Medal for the completion of 4 or 8 weeks of CLEAN eating and exercise sound convincing?
Can you help feed the hungry families of Eastern North Carolina? The Without Limits CLEAN
Challenge is for YOU!
We make it easy for you: A 4 or 8 week nutrition program that consists of:
The Challenge will be a rolling entry between June 21 (First day of Summer) to September 21 (Last day before fall) 4 or 8 weeks within that time.
Q: Can I do the challenge anytime? What are the time restrictions?
A: The challenge starts the first day of summer June 21st and runs through the last day of summer September 21st. You can sign up for the 8 week challenge from the time registration opens through July 28th (8 weeks until the end of summer)
You can sign up for the 4 week challenge from the time registration opens until August 25th (4 weeks until the end of summer)
Q: Is the Clean and Lean Challenge based on a low carbohydrate or ketogenic type diet?
A: No, the macronutrient composition of the Clean and Lean Challenge nutrition program if following the plan as provided is based on balanced macronutrients. Protein intake 20-30%, Carbohydrate intake 30-40%, and Fat intake 30-40% are used as goals for planning Clean Eating sample menus. Of course, it is possible to eat clean (and get lean) using other combinations of macronutrients, but I find this balanced approach works well for athletes.
Q: How much weight can I expect to lose in the Clean and Lean Challenge?
A: Weight loss results or changes in body composition will vary based on individual participant’s body surface area and efforts made with clean eating and exercise. A realistic expectation for the Clean and Lean Challenge is 1 pound per week for the participant who has 8 or more pounds to lose and is consistently following the Clean and Lean nutrition program, eating 500 calories per day less than their energy expenditure. See the weight loss chart below from a client who participated in 8 weeks of Clean eating for immune support and weight loss:
Q: Will the Clean and Lean Challenge nutrition program be time consuming and difficult to follow?
A: Like any lifestyle-based behavior change program, the Clean and Lean Challenge will require a commitment to daily and weekly goals, use of a list of Clean foods to plan menus and prepare meals. The amount of time spent in these tasks will vary by individual depending on their available time and cooking skills. It is possible to follow the Clean and Lean Challenge with only limited time and talent.
Q: Is the Clean and Lean Challenge like the Biggest Loser Challenge?
A: No, the Clean and Lean Challenge is not like Biggest Loser. Our objectives are centered on sustainable lifestyle changes the support clean eating and regular physical activity and movement rather than extremely difficult exercise routines and restrictive diets.
Q: How do I get the miles in?
A: 50 miles over 4 weeks or 100 miles over 8 weeks. Miles can be walking, running, or cycling. 3 miles of cycling=1 mile for the challenge.
Q: Will this benefit a charity?
*Proceeds will support the 4 C’s Food Pantry in Hampstead, North Carolina
